“I had Professor Kunchandy for chemistry during the summer of 2016, and he remains one of the most impactful educators I have ever encountered. Chemistry is widely considered one of the more challenging subjects, yet he had a remarkable ability to make it engaging, accessible, and genuinely enjoyable. He was an exceptional teacher who was clearly passionate about his field. His lectures were captivating, his explanations thoughtful, and his presence in the classroom was both charismatic and genuinely funny. He cared deeply about his students and created an environment where learning felt exciting rather than intimidating. At the time, I was going through a deeply painful separation that ultimately led to a divorce from my partner of six years. This was an accelerated summer course with four major exams. I performed very well on the first test, but by the second, I was emotionally overwhelmed and struggling to function, despite how much I enjoyed the class. Professor Kunchandy noticed the change immediately and asked if I was okay. I shared that I was experiencing severe depression due to my personal circumstances and that I needed to withdraw in order to focus on my well being. Even in that moment, I made sure to express how much I appreciated him, as he had already become one of my favorite professors. After I followed up by email, he responded with extraordinary compassion. While I do not remember his exact words, I will never forget how deeply his message affected me. I was in tears reading it. In true chemistry fashion, he used an analogy that has stayed with me for years. He shared that after a heartbreak of his own, he felt like an unpaired electron, unstable and incomplete. Over time, as he healed, that feeling gradually faded. Eventually, he met his wife, and he described that connection as two atoms forming a stable bond, balanced and whole. He reassured me that healing takes time, but that it does happen, and that I would be okay, just as he was. That level of empathy, kindness, and humanity from a professor during one of the darkest periods of my life is something I have never forgotten. He did not just teach chemistry. He showed genuine care for his students as people. Thank you, Professor Kunchandy.”

“Took multiple semesters at this college. The first semester was for radiography and it was extremely fast and i could hardly even keep up with the classes. The second semester was similar, but it was for medical assisting. My professor was absolutely disrespectful, and rather than corrections everything felt like I was being degraded and I was constantly spoken to in a disrespectful manner. I went to get my CDL-A at a different school and I got everything down in two months. Screw san jac, they're overpriced, and they don't care about you. If you want to get into a college, make it a different one, this community college isn't shit. Only thing it has going for it is that it is pretty.”

“Most difficult college to get information from i have ever gone to. Do not let your experiences here prevent you from going to school somewhere else. I now have a doctorate, but every time I have to have a security or background check, this is the only school I always have to go to campus. Anywhere else will just give me what I need via email or phone. Education quality is fine, if you work for it.”

“They only want fresh meat, many obstacles to go through and half of the team really don’t care for you or do they do their job correctly. Being over 30s and trying to get into a decent college is very stressful. On top of that they don’t answer your calls directly or advisors or financial aid can’t speak to you at the moment. CAUSE THEY ARENT TAKING CALLS. Let’s waste your gas and time to come up here. Unless you threaten to complain they will scatter. Very stressful. No calls from them nothing. Will take my FASFA somewhere else.”

“Worst college experience ever. Do NOT go here. San Jacinto College does not want students to succeed. They give constant misinformation, don’t read emails thoroughly, and deny requests without actually researching anything. I’ve had multiple emails rejected that were clearly misunderstood because no one bothered to read or investigate what was being asked. The appeal process is a complete joke. Appeals are dragged out for weeks, only to be denied right before deadlines, which feels intentional. It’s almost like the system is designed to make you fail by running out the clock. No transparency, no real explanations, just flat denials. There is also a serious issue with racism among some instructors, and when it’s reported, absolutely nothing is done. Complaints go nowhere. Accountability does not exist here. What’s even more disturbing is how little this school cares about students’ mental health. A close friend of mine told them that school was the only reason he was still holding on to life. He made straight A’s while attending and submitted proof with his appeal. After waiting over a month, they still denied him without compassion or care. Now he’s struggling badly, and the school couldn’t care less. This institution is unprofessional, dismissive, and harmful. They deny appeals, ignore evidence, and treat students like numbers instead of human beings. San Jacinto College needs to be investigated. If you care about your education, your future, or your mental health—RUN. Go anywhere else.”
