Smalley'S A/C & Heating Service
HVAC Contractor · Houston, TX
About
Smalley's A/C & Heating Service runs as a Houston, TX HVAC outfit that takes on residential air conditioning and heating work across the city. They deal with the constant demands of hot summers and occasional cold snaps that push systems hard all year. Homeowners reach out for breakdowns and replacements, and the crew shows up to handle units that have stopped cooling or heating properly. Over time they have built steady business by showing up for long-term customers who need reliable fixes on their existing equipment or full new installations when old systems fail completely.
They send technicians out for quick diagnosis on no-cool calls, part swaps like capacitors or contactors, and next-day unit replacements when a system dies outright. One customer saw a tech arrive fast after the office call, run a check, and get cold air moving again inside an hour while offering a maintenance plan. Another had the crew replace an entire unit the day after it quit, and they also helped with a family member's separate system on short notice. Long-time users note they provide estimates up front for repairs and respond the same day when problems hit.
Customers keep coming back because the crew treats people with respect, shows up on time, and keeps prices reasonable on bigger jobs over many years of service. Speed stands out in most accounts along with clear communication during visits, though a few note high charges on small part fixes that took little time. That mix of feedback lands them where they sit overall. DIRT Score 3.11 from 16 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“I called to see when they could come out and they said today which was great, and came out in a timely manner. But they then charged me $335 for a $21 part to be replaced. Took less than 20 minutes on my property including the time he was on the phone with someone else. 5 screws and 2 wires later the capacitor was replaced and charged me $335!!! That is completely absurd. I figured it was going to be around $150 maybe. But not $335….. I will definitely never use them again.”
“Got a call back from a technician ~1.5hrs after calling the office and he was there in 10min like he said he would be. NO cable guy vibes here! Quick diagnosis by the friendly/polite tech and cold air blowing within the hour! Maintenance plan offered was reasonable and I will be scheduling one. Be aware freon is $>outrageous”
“I have been using Smalley's AC and Heat for more than 20 years. When I have needed repairs or my unit replaced, I have always been treated with respect and as a valued customer. They are quick to respond, access my need and given me and estimate for the repair. Their service and repair prices are very reasonable. I would reccomend Dewayne and Co. to anyone needing airconditioning or heating repair or replacement. These guys are number one in my book!”
“If you are needing a reliable, courteous and great service- look no further than Smalley's A/C & Heating- I have had to have my unit worked on and when it completely died, they were swift to come out and the next day had me up and running with a new unit. When my mother's unit went out- they not only came out and got her going again but saw where she was losing cool air and fixed her duct work and helped her to get a more efficient flow throughout her house. We have known the Smalley's for over 50 years, DeWayne and taken over where his father left, great service, and pride in what he does, his prices are fair and all his employees are easy to talk to and help you anyway they can.”
“Very good service, reasonably priced. $85 for service, tech informed me that freon level is good (haven't checked in 5 years) and my cooling problem was due to impacted and clogged cooling fins on the outside unit...he said we could clean the coils with a waterhose and spray nozzle (no pressure washer) but for proper cleaning would need chemicals and in order to not damage the unit a trained tech would need to do it. Honest, and prompt, tech was professional, cleaned the coils showed me how and said I could do it weekly for a "cleaner" but not "clean" system. Very pleased with the service! I will use them again!”
