“Zero for rooms and service. LCRA needs to get it together. Camped here 3 nights. Expected a resort with accessible pool as per the website info. The resort is closed and no pool. The campground is kept up ok. But fire ring grates are stuck and rusted/ can’t use or move. I would not recommend this place- no access for swimming along the lake edge of Lake Buchanan either. No store. No restaurant. All listed as being available per the website. Very misleading.”

“DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to ROUGH IT. The place feels abandoned. There are no signs and nothing indicating anything that park facilities other than basic camping are shuttered and unuseable. NONE of this information was on the website. GOOD: The observatory show! The rest: We arrived at 5:30 pm on Friday and didn’t see a single staff while we were there camping for 2 nights. We even tried to find staff at the resort, by walking around but the resort is closed. There isn’t a single sign there that says this and the information is not on the website. And we never saw a single staff or LEO the entire time we were there. Without a map it’s hard to find the campsites but we couldn’t find anyone to give us one. The couple of maps up at trailheads are woefully inadequate. The park store is closed. It’s identified as a park store but that’s about the only sign on the building. When you look inside it’s been emptied. The nearest ice is 30 minutes plus away. The beach is completely unuseable due to heavy machinery, including barges, working on it. The construction workers were the only people we could find at 5:30 on Friday and they have no information about what’s going on. Then early mornings we were treated to the sound of heavy machinery right at sun up. We drove an hour round trip to a different park to use the lake. Today we woke up to find no water in the restrooms in the few that were even open. Most were closed. Zero mosquito abatement around any of the facilities. There’s a burn ban, is on the website, while we did not have one, we saw multiple people with ground fires & charcoal grilling. This isn’t a huge issue for us but definitely a safety issue since there were zero staff. A lot of the trails that are labeled as open on the large maps at the amphitheater and butterfly trail head are either closed or completely unable to be located. More signage and better maps is woefully needed. We weren’t the only people who were equally baffled. We all tried to get information from each other. No one had any clue what we had all signed up for because none of it was online, communicated to us, or on any signs in the park.”

“Love the nature trails of the park. The rv spots need a little TLC. The pictures on the website of the sites are very misleading. We thought we picked a nice spot but felt like we are shoved in the woods. The sites are very unleveled and the drop-off from the concrete pad to the ground is a safety hazard. Our auto levelers could never get the trailer leveled correctly. The outside table area is not appealing. The store, restaurant, stargazing and eagle watch areas were all closed which is the main reason for visiting. This information should be disclosed for future campers. We planned to eat at the restaurant so we packed very little food. Now we are eating sandwiches the whole visit. We have never seen the park host during our visit and their site is across from ours. They're site needs a little cleaning after all they should set an example how the LCRA would like the sites kept by campers. Bottom line the prices need to be lowered until improvements are completed.”

“I gotta say, the campgrounds were amazing, and I'll be back. One suggestion, a toilet closer to the tanner point campground would be the only suggestion I have. Driving to the group campground every time a restroom break was my only issue. The shower facilities were clean, with great water pressure, and hot water. I'm already looking forward to another visit.”

“This is now one of my favorite places to camp. Spots 1-7 are very nice camping spots and well spaced between each other. You will not be in anyone’s way and they are very private. Great hiking as well. I will be back!”
