About

On The Horizon HVAC, Inc operates from Ellis County, Texas and handles HVAC work along with plumbing and electrical tasks for houses in the area. Their main focus stays on air conditioning and heating equipment with services that cover repairs, replacements, maintenance visits, and emergency responses when systems break down during peak seasons. Homeowners often contact them for full system upgrades or basic tune ups on existing units, and the company advertises financing options that allow monthly payments on new installations for those who qualify through their programs.

Technicians from the company perform routine HVAC maintenance and heating diagnostics when sent out on jobs, including cases where a tech arrives to inspect a heating problem and checks the air filter before making a call on the equipment. Appointments get set for tune ups or maintenance through home warranty channels, though crews sometimes handle wiring tasks during fan repairs as seen when Jose Hancock worked on a unit and dealt with a protective shroud. They cover drain services, water heater work, and electrical panel checks as part of broader calls, with techs responding to issues like leaks or circuit problems in residential settings.

Customers report repeated problems with no shows on scheduled tune ups, multiple reschedules that push visits back by weeks, and quick judgments on full replacements without thorough checks, along with safety issues like exposed wires left near moving parts. These patterns show up across reviews in areas of communication failures, slow response times, and quality shortfalls on basic tasks. DIRT Score 1.87 from 105 reviews on Finds.

No call-no show! I was assigned to this company through One Guard Home Warranty. (When I researched the company, I was skeptical due to their poor reviews.) I received an email from Horizon on 11/12/25 to schedule my HVAC tune-up. I called 11/13/25 at 3:51pm and was assigned an appt. for 11/19/25 with a timeslot of 1pm-3pm. The day of the appt., Horizon was a no show. (My husband took the afternoon off work to meet with them.) I called One Guard today to have the service request assigned to another vendor. The OG rep contacted Horizon, and was told that I did not have an appt. for service on 11/19, and they claimed I had never even responded to their email to schedule service! (I have screenshots of the phone call log.) Extremely unprofessional to deny their mistake and attempt to place blame on the customer!

Avoid Horizon AC and Heat if you have a home warranty. We had a heating issue and OneGuard Home Warranty sent Horizon AC and Heat. The technician came out, barely looked at the system, and immediately declared the entire HVAC unit needed to be replaced because “the air filter hasn’t been changed in a long time.” We actually change our filter every 2 months like clockwork. They quoted us almost $5,900 for a full system replacement (an amount we would have had to pay out of pocket since the warranty doesn’t cover full replacements). We declined and called an independent HVAC company (not affiliated with any warranty). They diagnosed and repaired the real problem in one visit for only $421. The system has been running perfectly for weeks now with zero issues. Since we turned down the replacement, Horizon has called us repeatedly trying to schedule the “new system installation,” which makes it feel like they were being pushed into an unnecessary and extremely expensive upsell. Do yourself a favor and get a second opinion before letting this company touch your system. Extremely disappointed in their honesty and practices.

Like many others here, I scheduled a routine maintenance through my home warranty (Super) with On The Horizon HVAC. The appointment was originally set for May 2nd, but they rescheduled three separate times, finally arriving on May 22nd, three weeks late — and even then, three hours past the 11am–3pm window. When the technician finally showed up, the experience immediately felt unprofessional. He was not wearing any company-branded clothing, had no visible identification, and his vehicle was unmarked — no logos, decals, or any indication that he was with an HVAC company. He didn’t even introduce himself or tell me his name until he was about to go into the attic. From there, things got worse. He removed my old air filter but never installed the new ones I handed him. He made inaccurate claims about the age of my unit — saying it was from 1981 or 2006, despite the fact that my house was built well after 2006. He asked if I owned the home, why does that matter? He failed to perform any of the maintenance tasks listed in my warranty package, which included: Calibrating the thermostat Testing temperature split Checking refrigerant levels and system pressures Performing amp draws on motors and compressor Rinsing condenser coils Inspecting electrical components Testing capacitors, limit switches, and safety switches Cleaning or replacing filters Checking heat operation Cleaning and tightening electrical connections Checking contractors and condensate lines Instead, he tried to upsell me on a new system, claiming my capacitor was bad and showing me photos of “mold” from inside the unit. When I asked where exactly the photos were taken, he vaguely said “inside the unit.” I later checked the attic — the photos were clearly of dust on the outside of the unit, likely from a recent roof repair. He brought no tools except a set of gauges — which he never even used — and couldn’t explain what my warranty did or didn’t cover. When I pressed him on that, he admitted he didn’t know, yet was still trying to claim that nothing would be covered. I told him to send the report to the warranty company so they could decide, and declined to start any work order. This was a complete waste of time, with no real maintenance or diagnostics performed, and zero professionalism. It felt more like a scare tactic and sales pitch than a legitimate HVAC service. I’ll be reporting this to my warranty provider and strongly advise others to avoid On The Horizon HVAC.

**★☆☆☆☆ – DANGEROUS, NEGLIGENT, & UNPROFESSIONAL – AVOID ON THE HORIZON HVAC** Tech **Jose Hancock** (no valid TDLR license found) left **exposed 240V wires dangling in the fan blade path** after snapping the protective shroud. A licensed electrician confirmed this created an **immediate fire/shock hazard** next to my kids’ wall. Tech never shut off the breaker, downplayed it (“would only kill a rodent”), and lied—claiming clogged coils & dead compressor when the unit cools perfectly once the broken plastic was cleared from the fan. Knew about the exposed wires and said it was fine since the unit wasn’t working and it was grounded. Provided a false license. Umber, doesn’t return phone calls, doesn’t return emails.

I am completely satisfied with the furnace replacement work done by Horizon AC & Heat on 2/22/22. They promptly scheduled me for the diagnostic visit and then immediately scheduled the replacement once I had agreed to the work. We called in a service request to One Guard Home Warranty because our furnace would not stay on to heat the house. The diagnostic visit was scheduled the very next day. After the paperwork was submitted to One Guard, we were advised the entire furnace had to be replaced because a certain motor was not available. I don’t know if it was due to the shortage of goods the entire world is experiencing or because the part is no longer manufactured due to the age of the furnace (which is about 30 years old). All I knew is that I needed heat in my house and had to rely on professionals to resolve the issue. To be honest, I was a little hesitant when I heard that the entire furnace had to be replaced and certain modifications had to be made with the ducts and gas pipes. I had never used Horizon before, so I immediately went to look at online reviews. After I read a lot of reviews, I was left feeling a little anxious and I had mixed feelings based on extremely positive and extremely negative reviews. I decided the best way to reduce my worries is to reach out to Horizon and One Guard with my questions. I also did some minor research to see what is involved with replacing a furnace and what it would cost if I went with a different company and paid everything out of pocket. Not to my surprise, replacing a furnace can cost thousands of dollars. So, I wrote down a list of questions and called Horizon. I don't remember who I spoke with, but the office staff was able to answer all my questions. She was professional and left me feeling confident and at ease that Horizon would be able to resolve our issue. Another great perk was that they were able to work with me on the final total for the out-of-pocket expenses which was not covered by One Guard. On the day of the furnace replacement, the technician Jose and his assistant arrived and went immediately to work. They were very professional, friendly, cleaned up after themselves, and installed the new furnace perfectly. Because of Horizon, we were able to stay warm during the cold front that came through the DFW area on 2/23/22-2/25/22. My take-away from this entire experience is that everyone’s experience and perception is different. I am they type of person that will ask questions and likes to provide and receive clear expectations. Also, during these past two years of a global pandemic, I am trying to be more patient and appreciative of services I am receiving and especially by those that are performing the work. I do want to say I have had both bad and good experiences with contractors whether they were through One Guard, personal referrals, or from my own search, but my experience with Horizon was great and I would recommend them.
