Spencers Heating And Air, Llc
HVAC Contractor · Irving, TX
About
Spencer's Heating and Air, LLC works out of Amarillo, Texas handling full HVAC needs for homes across the area. Their crew focuses on keeping heating and cooling systems running through the hot summers and cold winters that hit the Texas panhandle hard. Techs like David Cummons and Charles turn up with the tools and parts ready to handle repairs without extra trips back to the shop. Homeowners call them for everything from routine maintenance to sudden breakdowns where quick fixes matter most. The company keeps a mix of experienced field hands who know the local equipment and the common problems that show up in older houses around town.
They send technicians out for air conditioning repairs where a part like a needed valve or component stays stocked right in the truck so the job finishes the same day. Charles fixed one unit on the spot after the homeowner worried about calling an unknown outfit and ended up impressed with how the whole process ran from the first call. David Cummons handles detailed equipment checks and talks through options so customers understand what broke and why. On the other side jobs have included warranty work on TXV valves that dragged out over days when estimates stayed stuck in text messages instead of formal paperwork plus a few cases where techs misread a fan motor or disconnect as the problem when something else needed attention.
Customers keep coming back because the field techs show up prepared and treat people straight without running up unnecessary charges on simple fixes. Speed stands out when parts sit ready in the truck and the scheduling moves without long waits while quality comes from hands who know the systems inside out. Price stays reasonable on the jobs that get done right the first time and communication holds up when techs explain the work clearly before starting. Even with the occasional snag on bigger warranty claims the overall record shows consistent results that add up over time. DIRT Score 5.0 from 1306 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“99 \ 1i! t's a sure bet you will be hard pressed to do better than this service provider and their field technician, Mr. Cummons. Based on my dialog with David, it's a near certitude the rest of the techs are well versed and well schooled in customer and equipment service. David Cummons and Spencer Air deserve each and every one of those 5 stars! From my initial call to the positive and accommodating receptionist to one of the most engaging, thoughtful and knowledgeable field technicians, I have ever met, Spencer Air Conditioning and David exceeded my expectations across the board. I waited several days to make this posting to be assured that I would have no reservations concerning my initial level of satisfaction. That satisfaction hasn't waned. If anything, it is growing, daily.”
“The tech Charles was so nice and helpful! He repaired our AC and had the part needed on hand in his truck. I always worry when I have to call a service repair company I know nothing about but I was thoroughly impressed with the scheduling process, the technician, The excellent service. And transparency. Will definitely use them again and would definitely recommend.”
“Dealing with Spencer’s General Manager, Justin, for a warranty repair on our home's AC was a frustrating, week-long ordeal. He originally quoted $2,400 via text for a TXV valve replacement but refused for days to provide a formal PDF estimate, claiming there were "too many moving parts" to put it in writing. He repeatedly pushed for a verbal approval over text instead. After a week of pulling teeth and showing him a past invoice from our other property to prove their system can generate paperwork, he finally sent a formal proposal. Shockingly, that proposal contained a major technical blunder. He noted our exact Friedrich model number but specified recharging it with 14 lbs of R-410A refrigerant. Our unit runs exclusively on the new R-454B. Pumping R-410A in would cross-contaminate the system and instantly void our factory warranty. RE: OWNER RESPONSE: The company's response below is a complete distortion of facts. They claim they emailed on 6/15 "outlining the cost for labor and refrigerant," but I have uploaded a screenshot of that actual email so the public can see the truth. It was a lazy, two-sentence plain text email with a flat $2,400 price tag and zero itemization or breakdown. It wasn't a matter of "waiting for supply houses"—it was a flat refusal to provide a standard business document until forced. Dismissing a critical, 14-pound chemical mismatch on an official contract as a simple "clerical error" is incredibly defensive. If I hadn't caught that "error" myself, my system would be ruined and my warranty voided. We sat in a house that was 85–95 degrees for a week dealing with this runaround. Future customers should know you will have to audit their contracts yourself to make sure they aren't quoting the wrong materials. Avoid them.”
“Professional demeanor of the technicians and the admin staff. However both the technicians diagnosed it incorrectly, one over the phone. They quoted me outrageous sums to replace parts that in hindsight did not need to be replaced - not even close! It was not a bad motor fan and not a bad disconnect. It just needed a Freon recharge!!! Shame on you for not checking the most basic of possible fixes. The technician was most interested in upselling the membership plan.”
“I have used Spencer for many years. I have bought and recommended them to my father, best friend and his mother. All purchased systems from Spencer and use them for service. I needed a new dual capacitor , the receipt was vague. I assume the capacitor with diagnostics was $349 and not the part alone. I felt like that it was reasonable in total so I was very satisfied”
