About
Richard Galloway operates Richard Galloway A/C & Heating from Belton in the Killeen area of Texas. He entered the field back in 1987 after time spent welding on ships and in refineries plus work as an electrician's helper and HVAC assistant. He earned certification as a welder from CEW, finished electronics training at MTI, then graduated with honors from Universal Technical Institute in Houston with an air conditioning technology degree. NATE certified and state licensed for air conditioning, heating and refrigeration work, he has run the business solo since 2010 with a helper only on larger jobs across Bell County and nearby spots.
The company handles repairs, maintenance and full installations on central air systems, heat pumps, furnaces and commercial refrigeration units including ice machines. Technician Mike Reel II arrived on time for a service call and handled the job with solid knowledge while keeping costs reasonable. Homeowners have called for dual-zone HVAC setups that needed attention after installation, and the owner stresses quick response times plus free estimates on replacement equipment to keep systems running through the local heat.
Reviewers repeatedly mention techs arriving promptly and communicating clearly on pricing and repairs, with fair charges standing out in several accounts. Speed and professional conduct from names like Mike Reel II earn consistent nods even as some quality issues surface on follow-through. DIRT Score 3.22 from 34 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“⸻ Extremely Disappointed – Poor Service & Questionable Equipment We had a full dual-zone HVAC system (upstairs and downstairs) installed by Galloway Beck Heating and Cooling just three years ago. The system was under warranty, but that didn’t seem to mean much when things went wrong. About a week ago, the upstairs unit stopped working. We attempted to troubleshoot the issue ourselves, but with no success. We called all three phone numbers listed on their website and left voicemails requesting a callback. We were understanding and patient, willing to wait until Monday (the next business day), but no one ever returned our call. By Tuesday, after multiple additional calls, we finally reached someone. A technician came out and confirmed what we had initially suspected. He said the problem was a major component failure, and a part would need to be ordered. This was frustrating, especially since the unit is only three years old, but we agreed. We were told the part should be in by Thursday. However, we never received any updates—not Wednesday, not Thursday, not Friday morning. Again, we made several calls, left more voicemails, and even texted the technician directly. Still, no response. On Friday—day five with no AC upstairs—someone from the warehouse finally texted us saying the part had been “lost” but was now found, and they might be able to come out Monday. The technician did arrive Monday and replaced the entire compressor (again, only three years old!) and refilled the coolant. We were then charged over $600, including: • A service fee for the initial technician who barely inspected anything • Two hours of labor for the repair • The cost of the coolant To top it off, we never once received a proactive update or return call during the entire nine-day ordeal—only silence until the part “magically” reappeared. This experience was unacceptable. • ZERO communication • A system that failed after just three years • A completely hands-off and unresponsive approach to customer service 0/10 – Would not recommend. Avoid at all costs. This is not how you treat customers, especially ones still under warranty”
“Mike Reel II was our tech. He was on time, friendly, knowledgeable, professional & fair on pricing.”
“Having known the Galloway family my entire life, when I moved back into town and experienced a sewer backup, I knew right away who to call. Within 24 hours my phone call was returned and the sewer lines were clear the next day. Needless to say, the odor in my home was terrible; not anymore! I knew right away when I called them, Mike and team would be out ASAP, and they were. I watched Mike’s father Mere build beautiful custom homes and his mother Carol build successful businesses as I grew up, and they put the same care and quality service into Galloway-Beck Plumbing Heating and Cooling. Mike and team get the job done right.”
“Hate to give even 1 star. Galloway Beck installed a new mini-split HVAC system, which leaked all freon and failed completely about a year later. They claimed to have fixed it, but it leaked all freon and failed still again. This time they refused to even return calls or my letter. I have to take them to court for faulty installation and not honoring their warranty. They also failed to give me a written quote even after I asked for one many, many times. Then, they sent me a bill almost twice what they quoted even before they finished the job. They also promised a Mitsubishi system, but installed a Dura Star system that is about $1,500 less than what they promised. I do not recommend this business.”
“Hated giving them a 1 but had no other option. Unfortunately our builder picked this company to do all our hvac and plumbing- not really sure where to begin. Moved in on october 8th 2021- had to have them out within days due to air conditioner's not working. Then had to have them out at least 3 more times till they were finally able to fix both the home air conditioner and garage unit. Found out on the final visit that they never hooked up the built in humidifier. So 2yrs later our furnace wont work - called Nov 1st couldnt get someone out till Nov 6 and they were a no show - of course and no call to reschedule or acknowledge. This just touches on the hvac issues we have had- they installed a vent for our oven and everytime it rains the rain comes through the vent and i have to put a pot on the stove to catch it - his solution duct tape which by the way does not work. Oh and you'll love the answering macine - it will take you back to high school when someone answers and you think you have a person but you dont you have an answering machine -nice pause Mike. I could go on and on - please find another company HVAC and plumbing work is too much for this company.”
