About
Steven King Heating And Cooling runs HVAC operations from Round Rock, Texas, where they handle central air systems and cooling repairs for homes facing the area's intense summer heat. The company sends technicians including Brian King to job sites for diagnostics and fixes on units that stop working properly. Homeowners in the region often call on them for service when air conditioners fail during peak use, and the outfit focuses on both standard repairs and calls tied to home warranty providers. Their approach involves checking equipment on site, ordering replacement parts when needed, and addressing complaints about overheating or wiring problems in older setups.
Technicians from the company arrive to inspect central air units, diagnose issues like faulty wiring behind thermostats, and order parts for systems that have broken down. In practice this means responding to calls about no cooling, but customers report waits stretching over a week without updates while parts come in. Brian King has been noted for handling many of these visits, including those involving home warranty claims where the focus appears to shift toward billing rather than quick resolution. They also check for problems like overheating that might affect walls or doors near the thermostat, though follow up work sometimes reveals the original assessment missed the full scope of the repair needed on the system.
Homeowners in Round Rock have given consistent feedback on the speed of responses, the quality of the work performed, and the way communication happens during jobs, especially when delays leave houses without air conditioning. Reports highlight rude interactions from staff and a pattern of missteps on warranty service that leave problems unresolved until another crew steps in later. These patterns across multiple calls explain the low overall rating the company carries. DIRT Score 1.83 from 10 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“Actually, no stars. They had to order a part and I’ve been without AC for over a week. No apology calls or reassurance calls. My husband tried to get the status and the raspy-voiced troll was rude. I hope these people aren’t called King as in the Lord like so many folks who try to appeal to others through fake Christianity. They have zero customer service skills. They are being paid through our Homeowners Insurance who isn’t on our nice list either.”
“This guy Brian King (that's what it says when he called) has the worst attitude and customer service skills ever imaginable. From the moment this guy got outta his van, I could tell he doesn't care about customers. Don't have these guys come if you're trying to go through your home warranty. This guy spent 20 mins trying to get me to say something to void my home warranty. I kept giving him the same story and eventually due to being so angry, I left my house, called my insurance company and had him removed from my property. He was that bad. If I have a problem with my AC, I shouldn't be getting interrogated, especially if I'm telling the truth. If I could, this company would get no stars. I wouldn't recommend this guy to anyone!!! Stay Away from Kings Cooling and heating.”
“My horrible experience with King Heating and Cooling (King H&C): ~NOTE:If you are using King Heating and Cooling for a Home Warranty repair/diagnosis, BEWARE, because it appears King H&C’s only goal with Home Waranty Service Calls is MONEY. For this reason, don't expect your problem to be resolved correctly, good customer service or a good work product at all. Our Experience: King Heating and Cooling failed miserably at our tech service calls, TWICE, leaving us without our cooling/heating system for over a month and a half. With these odd Texas temps fluctuating up and down this year, it has been miserable. Furthermore, our electric bill went from $180 to $500 in a month because the fan would continually run without cooling or heating correctly and it took so long to get it fixed. King H&C came to our house two times on 10/18/17 and 11/02/17. I was away at work both times the techs came out, so my wife had to meet with them. On the first service call, the King H&C tech told my wife the coils inside the outside condenser unit were dirty and just needed to be cleaned. The tech never even looked at the internal workings of the inside unit or troubleshot the continually running fan. I know because the main panel to our interior unit was never even cracked open. My wife also mentioned the tech looked miserable to be at our home. The 2nd service recall with King H&C, our unit still wasn’t cooling after I immediately cleaned the aforementioned coils myself. My wife called King H&C and a female employee, with a raspy voice, asked my wife a series of questions in what appeared to be an attempt to get my wife to imply the reason we were having problems was because I opened up the external condenser unit to clean the coils, that THEY told us were dirty. After I got home from work and heard how they treated my wife, I called King H&C myself and spoke to the same female, with a raspy voice, who apparently dispatches the techs. This female was rude and probing me with questions, in what appeared to be another attempt to make me say I did something to damage the unit after the tech left. This angered me and I told her to stop giving me the “runaround” because this was how it felt. She immediately stopped grilling me and told me to call my home warranty company back. My wife also felt like this same raspy voice female was trying to entrap her into saying we sabatotaged our own system. These business practices were getting to the point of criminal behavior. This really made me angry how King H&C were treating us, so I contacted my home warranty company again and asked them to send a different company to our home, but I was advised they had to send the same company for a recall before they could send a different company. So my home warranty made King H&C come out to our home, again, for the recall. The second RECALL tech AGAIN told my wife nothing was wrong with our system and he also failed to troubleshoot anything inside the interior unit’s panel. Temps in our house were reaching the upper 80’s and lower 90’s in the middle of the day, with the AC running, due to the offbeat temperatures we had been having in Central Texas this year. The first time Rich Services came out, on 11/07, they diagnosed the problem in just minutes by actually going inside the panel of the interior unit. The tech showed me the board had a visually obvious burnt component and some frayed wires that even I could tell were an operating issue. The Rich Serv tech had the faulty control board immediately ordered via cellphone from our driveway, before leaving the job site. The 2nd Rich Services tech came out and installed the new part in no time and also found that our fan was wired with very low voltage. The tech upgraded our fan speed by adding voltage to the fan with an existing spare power wire. We now have a working heating and cooling system, better than before, thank to Rich Services! Thanks for trying to scam us, putting us through Hell and wasting our time, King Heating and Cooling. J. Jones Kempner, TX”
“Spoke with my former land lord today. The central air system that Brian said was not overheating and that I was using something to make the wall and door overheat, behind the thermostat, had to be completely replaced just recently. The new tenants had the same issue, and turns out the wiring to the thermostat was heating up the wall, and had literally melted into the wall and the unit caught fire. Brian accused me of tampering with it, called me a short bus rider, and mentally retarded among other things. And, continued to insult me, in my "home". And, then slammed the door on the way out. He's rude, inconsiderate, and down right foul mouthed. Oh, I failed to mention, the creature that answers the phone, is not fit to be answering phones and has no knowledge of what is going on or knowledge of any task at hand. I'm not sure he or she has opposable thumbs.”
