About
J & S Brown Services, LLC operates out of Lubbock, Texas from their spot at 1802 E 50th St. They run under the name On The Double Heating & Cooling and handle HVAC work plus related plumbing and air conditioning tasks. The company started around 2016 and has been going for about ten years now. They pull in roughly a million dollars annually and keep eleven people on staff at that one location. This setup lets them take care of homes across the area with systems built for the tough West Texas weather. Local conditions demand reliable crews who know how dust, wind, and extreme swings affect equipment day after day.
In Lubbock the summers hit hard with temperatures that push air conditioners to their limit, so crews from J & S Brown Services often show up to fix compressors, recharge refrigerant, or replace whole units that quit during the worst heat. They also handle winter heating repairs when furnaces break down from the cold snaps that come through. Homeowners deal with dust and wind that clog filters and strain equipment, and these techs clean and maintain systems to keep them running without constant breakdowns. They work on ductwork too and make sure everything meets the demands of local homes. The team moves from one call to the next without wasting time on extra steps that drive up costs or delays.
Customers keep coming back because the work gets done quick without dragging on, the fixes hold up over time, the bills stay reasonable for what gets done, and the crew explains things straight without confusion. That kind of steady performance adds up across dozens of jobs in the Lubbock area. DIRT Score 4.87 from 50 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“In December 2024, my husband surprised me by saying we were moving ahead with our kitchen renovation and that JS Brown & Co., Inc. would be doing the work. Right from the get-go, we liked the personalities of the sales manager and designer. The process began in May with the designer, Samantha, asking my husband and I to describe the perfect kitchen for us. Entertaining is something we enjoy, so we wanted the design to accommodate guests and include lots of storage. The designer made notes, asked us questions, answered our questions, and then she and the sales manager left. We met a few days later to go over the designs and we were amazed by the creativity and beautiful renderings! Our project consisted of a major kitchen renovation but also included updates to the dining room and family room. These areas all run together at the back of the house. Samantha’s ability to create our stunning and functional kitchen from a 30-minute conversation during the initial walk through was impressive! She suggested removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room and replacing it with a beautiful arch. She then showed us a rendering with a built-in alcove at one end of the dining room for housing my dining room credenza. She included a pantry/storage area on each side of the alcove. The family room involved removing one door to the outside deck and putting in a three-door slider to provide more light. My husband wanted the tv moved above the fireplace, but I didn’t want to see the tv cords dangling down. So, Sam created a secret panel in the fluted crown molding trim-work to hide the cords! The gutted kitchen became the kitchen of our dreams with custom cabinetry and appliance garage. One large window was removed on the back wall to allow for the placement of a new 48” dual fuel oven. Three long bay windows became three short ones for accommodating the sink and peninsula area. Four barstools fit perfectly at the peninsula/bar area, making it great for entertaining! The team did a wonderful job of matching our outside vinyl siding which was necessary to cover the holes left from the window removal. The project also included beautiful white oak floors! Kudos to our designer, Samantha, who listened to our description of the perfect kitchen, and created renderings that captured our taste. Working with her was a dream and we appreciated her enthusiasm and willingness to design a more modern area for entertaining. The tile installer, Adam, did a fantastic job of matching and cutting the marble mosaic tile backsplash for the project. His work was quite impressive. Our project manager, Dave, had a keen ability to pay attention to detail and troubleshoot any issues with skill and finesse. Thomas, we appreciated your hard work with the demo! In summary, the team assigned to us was easy to work with and always professional. The talent and craftsmanship displayed by this company made the process a great experience. Thank you for doing a phenomenal job!”
“Our project consisted of a complete kitchen and bathroom gut renovation and a mudroom addition in Old Arlington. From the beginning of our project, Tony and Tony did a great job of outlining the entire remodel process from design to completion and setting expectations for timing, communication, etc. The design process was very collaborative and really highlighted JS Brown’s experience in the remodeling industry. Brittany was a joy to work with on design selections and had great insight on tile, countertops, cabinetry, etc. Once construction started, we absolutely knew we had made the right choice in selecting JS Brown. Our project manager Matt was on site every day and was always ready to answer any question we had. He was extremely detail oriented and a pleasure to work with. We selected a Lacanche range for our kitchen and he went above and beyond to oversee the delivery and installation. We lived in our house during the project and the entire production team was extremely respectful to us, our children, our dog and our home. We had envisioned and planned for this renovation since we bought our house eight years ago. It turned out better than we could have imagined! The renovated space transitions seamlessly to the original house and is absolutely stunning! Thank you JS Brown & Co.!!! Rob and Jess Lindner”
“We can summarize our experience with J.S. Brown with one word: Phenomenal! Our project included removal of a load bearing wall to open up the kitchen / sunroom / family room, as well as the addition of a large, covered patio. Included with that were a new kitchen, new flooring throughout the entire house, and a new portico over a side door. We had a team of eight J.S. Brown employees working on our project, each one incredibly gifted in their field. Even the subcontractors that were on our job were talented, polite and a pleasure to have in our home. The initial job cost estimate versus our final cost was well managed, and the few mutually agreed upon change orders were discussed in advance. Daily communication and exquisite craftsmanship were what made J.S. Brown & Co. truly phenomenal. We cannot praise them enough.”
“J.S. Brown remodeled the entire first floor of our home with the primary focus being on the kitchen. They were professional, communitive, and collaborative in all aspects of the project. Expectations were discussed from the beginning of the design phase and adhered to throughout the project. The design team is wonderful and helpful in guiding us through the decisions. The construction team was very professional, clean and courteous while they were in our house. I would highly recommend them and plan on using this company again for future projects!”
“J.S. Brown did a master bath shower remodel and installed engineered hardwood in living room in 2019. From start to finish, everyone was professional and responsive to any questions or concerns I had. Work was done on time, as promised, and results were beautiful — which ultimately added to the sale of my condo. I have already consulted with J.S. Brown on a potential new project and will follow-up with them when timing is right.”
