“I'm torn on how to review Totally Cool. The office manager was friendly and helped squeeze me in on short notice. Had no problem with her. The tech who came to our home was honestly disappointing. He claimed our condenser motor was failing and the fan was spinning in reverse. That sounded odd, so I questioned if that was common. He said yes. I asked if he checked to see if the last company had possibly connected the new capacitor incorrectly. He confidently said yes, he already thought of that, and it was wired correctly. I waited a few days for them to get parts and kept being bothered by his explanation. I ended up going out and pulling the panel off the condenser to check it for myself. Sure enough, the wires to the capacitor were mixed up. As soon as I swapped them, the fan started spinning the correct direction. The fan was fine. I believe it was an honest mistake, but I'm unsure why he said he'd checked the connections if he hadn't. That was a far more likely explanation than a failing fan motor reversing itself. I had contacted the office to inform them of what I'd discovered and that I didn't need the new motor installed. They didn't apologize for the mistake or seem that concerned. I would totally believed this was a single issue with a single tech and that the rest of the company is great. The lack of concern over the misdiagnosis just left me a bit frustrated.”

“We recently had Totally Cool install a new heat pump system, replace ducting, and add insulation. We went through the Austin Energy Rebate program, and they coordinated everything for us. Pricing was fair even without the added rebates. While working on our house, the crew was courteous and communicated updates regularly. They made sure that we had A/C every night before leaving, and they took their time to get everything right. We highly recommend them!”

“My furnace broke right before a weekend of freezing weather. Despite them being totally swamped, Shelley put me on the waitlist and was able to get someone out the next day to take a look. He diagnosed the problem quickly and did a manual fix to get the motor running, but warned me that this was a temporary solution as my HVAC was 20 years old 😅 I got the whole system replaced by them and they were efficient and professional. They took less than a full day to replace the whole thing and it’s been running great since then. Shelley at their office in particular responded to all my questions quickly and got everything scheduled to my needs.”
