J A Thurman Inc
HVAC Contractor · Mesquite, TX
About
J A Thurman Inc works out of Houston, TX providing HVAC services to area residents. The trade involves keeping homes comfortable in the hot and humid climate that dominates the region for much of the year. Homeowners often face issues with their heating and cooling equipment due to constant use during long summers and occasional winter cold snaps. The company sends out crews to address these problems as they arise in neighborhoods across the city. Common tasks include checking refrigerant levels, cleaning coils, and ensuring proper airflow through ducts that can get clogged with dust and debris from the environment. Houston traffic and sprawl can also affect response times when units break down at inconvenient moments.
Their work covers installing new HVAC units, repairing existing systems that have stopped working properly, and performing regular tune ups to prevent failures. Technician Jayson Smith has been noted in reviews for delivering solid results on service visits where customers appreciated the outcome. On the other hand some jobs have seen extended timelines with mentions of delays that went on for years after initial start dates around 2014 with no completion in sight by 2017. Complaints also reference how Texas weather like rain should not cause such long setbacks yet projects remain unfinished leading to ongoing problems for those involved and forcing detours or extra time spent dealing with the mess.
Customers have mixed feedback on the performance with some praising the company overall while others point to problems with how long jobs take to finish and the planning involved. Speed and communication seem to be areas where issues arise based on the experiences shared, along with quality of the project management. Price gets mentioned in context of the value received over time. The low overall rating reflects these consistent concerns from multiple reviews. DIRT Score 2.46 from 38 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“Great company! Love working with them.”
“If I could give this company negative stars, I would. We moved to Josephine in 2014 and it looked like 78 was nowhere near completion. And now, in 2017, it looks nowhere near completion. My husband and I can either spend an hour sitting in traffic or go 30 miles out of the way to avoid it. I never see more than 3 or 4 people working on the road at any given time of day. This company is a joke!”
“I get weather delays but come on...this is Texas. We don't get THAT much rain. 2+ years overdue on this project and no end in sight. This project was already well underway when my husband and I met. We are now 3.5 years and 2 kids into our marriage and HWY 78 is still a dangerous mess of a construction zone. I spotted a couple guys working on this dry, sunny day, but really, how much can 2 or 3 guys accomplish in one day? At this point, they should be working day in and day out to get this road DONE!”
“GTI has been "working" on Rt 78 in Lavon for several years and this 3 mile stretch is still not done, and wont be until at least october? Between obviously poor project planning, a woefully inadequate workforce and just plain old indifference to finishing the work, they have exhibited no ability to serve the public and do not deserve any future publicly funded work. The poor weather excuse is pathetic,... I drive 25 miles each way to work and have passed by many road projects the past two years and all of them have been finished, but not 78!”
“The Highway 78 project started when before my son entered high school. He is now a junior. I wonder what will happen first: will he graduate from high school or will Highway 78 get finished? Given GTI's imitation of a Three Stooges film during this construction project, I am predicting the former. They are incompetence personified.”
