“I spent thousands on a brand-new, 3-ton full system (outdoor unit and air handler) installed by Air Authority on February 18th. By April 30th—barely two months later—the unit was already failing and making a suspicious humming noise. When the technician found the system was low on refrigerant, he simply "topped it off" and told me this was normal. When the office finally called me back, they doubled down on this nonsense, claiming that adding refrigerant to a brand-new HVAC system is "normal, like adding air to new car tires." This is a blatant lie. Unlike porous rubber tires, an HVAC system is a sealed, closed-loop copper and steel system. If it needs refrigerant after only 60 days, there is a mechanical leak or a botched installation. By giving me this "smoke and mirrors" explanation, they are clearly trying to avoid doing the actual work of finding the leak until my labor warranty expires. It is clear that Air Authority is happy to take your money for a premium installation but will resort to deceptive analogies and "band-aid" fixes when their workmanship fails. I have documented their "car tire" explanation and will be filing a formal complaint with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) for deceptive trade practices if this is not resolved with a proper leak test and a permanent fix immediately. Save yourself the headache and go with a company that actually understands HVAC physics and values honesty.”
