“I contacted Mark & Sons for a diagnostic visit on an HVAC issue. The technician diagnosed the problem and replaced the motor without first providing an estimate or obtaining my authorization. I was never presented with a work order or asked to approve the repair cost before the motor was installed. After the repair was completed, I was presented with a bill of approximately $1,200. When I questioned the charge, I explained that I had not authorized the repair and had never been informed of the cost beforehand. I ultimately purchased the exact same replacement motor myself for a fraction of the price. My concern is not with the technician’s effort, but with the lack of communication and authorization before performing a costly repair. Customers should be given an estimate and the opportunity to approve or decline repairs before work is completed. Based on my experience, I would recommend that anyone using this company insist on a written estimate and approval process before any repairs are performed.”
