Straus Systems Inc
HVAC Contractor · Sugar Land, TX
About
Straus Systems Inc takes on HVAC projects from their base in Sugar Land, Texas. The outfit has handled commercial construction and service work around Houston since 1933, running a large setup with a fabrication shop and office space that supports jobs from small commercial buildings up to industrial complexes. They supply the gear, handle installation, and get systems running end to end for comfort and process needs. Mechanical services cover repairs, retrofits, preventive maintenance, and predictive work on everything from single story sites to heavy facilities, with a focus on practical solutions that keep operations moving without extra layers.
Their crews deliver full HVAC construction packages including design support and startup, plus ongoing mechanical service for long term customers who stick with them for decades. On site, technicians manage equipment installs and system fixes in commercial and industrial settings, though some reviews flag problems like technicians showing up late or getting into road incidents with short tempers that lead to blocking cars and confrontations. Other feedback points to solid results on mechanical jobs where the work held up, and notes friendly interactions from the team during those projects. The operation stays geared toward bigger builds where they can use their shop space for custom fabrication before heading out.
Customers give mixed feedback on the work, with praise for quality on mechanical side jobs and personable staff who come across as straightforward during service calls, while speed takes hits from late arrivals and communication suffers when employee road behavior spills over into complaints. Price gets little direct mention but the overall record shows steady commercial HVAC delivery despite occasional crew issues. DIRT Score 2.94 from 15 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“Unfortunately, I tried to handle this the right way. I called the company instead of the police. One of the employees of this company today, not only almost t boned me, but literally followed me and blocked me in. He then proceeded to get out of his vehicle and try to intimidate me. A girl, he is twice my size. Took me about 15 minutes to lose this guy because he proceeded to follow me. I contacted a manager Rick, Rick said this guy Jeffrey Richardson knows who I am and where I live. Not acceptable for this guy to continue to work for this place of employment. It sounded more like a threat than what they want to do.”
“Unfortunately had a bad experience with these guys... they allow their employees to show up late with no repercussions. As well as hire employees with a short temper that follow small women around and harass them in road rage fits.... for a grown man to follow a woman block her into a parking space then proceed to get out of the company truck and intimidate and harrass her. Really shows alot about this man's character and this companies hiring process. If I were you I would think twice about doing business with a company that allows their employees to treat people like this. For some back history on the subject. The employee driving the work truck. Blew threw a T intersection in a neighborhood Running 3 hours late for work.... Almost T boning my fiance. She blipped her horn at him. He didn't like it. So she leaves and moves on... no harm no foul right? (Except for him blowing through a stop sign) Removes herself from the situation and he pursues her to the point of blocking her in a parking spot at a local establishment. Then getting out next to her driver door yelling and threatening a small woman that definitely can not defend herself against a man of his size. All this employee got was a slap on the rist.... and that's not enough.... now my fiance is at home scared to leave the house because this employee of this so called company knows where we live and knows our vehicles. So what are the odds of retaliation at this point.... I dont know and I hope I dont have to follow up with a new review.”
