“Edited a week later … After reading some negative comments, we decided to get a second opinion about our unit. So glad we did. It turns out we needed to replace 1 part and were only charged for labor! We went from a price of $5000 (not including labor, most likely) to paying $400 for labor only since the unit IS covered by a manufacturer warranty. Wow the second opinion was so worth the time! Save yourself some money and check out Evans Air Conditioning, The Original. They are the real deal. By the way, I never even heard back from Lex ETX regarding moving forward with the plan to replace the indoor unit. —— We were a customer of Doran Mechanical. Lex ETX is a huge improvement already! Thank you for your courteous and straightforward service. Our 5 year old unit will unfortunately need to be replaced but we feel great about having this company to help us.”

“I just called them out to change a thermostat. They wanted to charge $860 to change a $200 thermostat. They said they could give me a 10% discount and claimed that was $801. That math doesn't math. The technician was super nice but said he couldn't get hold of his manager to get authorization for a discount. He left with no repair. At some point we have to take some of the greed out of the trades. They are a great way to make an honest living but $660 in labor to plug in a thermostat is ridiculous. The The follow-up sales pitch was that they were going to check everything which is fair enough but still. $660. At some point we have to have more character and stop being greedy. I told the guy I was willing to pay $600 for the job total. $200 for the thermostat that I can buy at home Depot for less than $200 and $400 in labor. He said no.”
