“The worst experience I have ever had with any contractor. I have an 1150 sq. ft. Condo that was flooded in Feb. 2021. All floors had to be removed, a bathroom gutted, kitchen gutted - total disaster. Contracted with R&S to do all repairs; moved out May 1, 2021 and spent the next 8 months in hell. Work did not begin for approx. 2 months; work/workers were/was shoddy, destructive, and totally inexperienced. Project Manager was never in control and seldom appeared on the job. I cut ties with them in Dec. 2021 and moved back in on 12/30/2021 I have spent the last 3 months fixing/redoing their work. Floors not properly installed; installers left kitchen cabinets half installed (work they did do was not done according to plans); destroyed dishwasher that was to be reinstalled and, as of today, master shower drain has to be replaced which involves removing tile, shower pan, replacing the drain that "their" tile man filled with cement/grout and retile the walls and floor of the shower stall. All electrical outlets had to be replaced as they were filled with texture and paint. All of this on top of not receiving back all of my belongings they stored. I have insurance with USAA and RS was on their preferred list. I will be working to have them removed from this list.”
“Recent storms in the area took a beating on our home, resulting in water damage in multiple locations. I contacted the team at Restoration Specialists, and they treated me as if I were the most important client they had ever worked with. The team assembled by Jason Stout was top notch. They were timely, professional, respectful, and sympathetic to the fact that our home was in disarray while we sorted out the issues with coverage. They came on site and immediately began a series of tests to determine the extent, location, and potential sources of the water intrusion while documenting everything along the way for my insurance provider. We were VERY pleased with the two primary individuals Jason assigned to work with us - Tristan Randolph and Ferlundo Divine. They were attentive to our needs, and had a clear understanding of the goal to get us back to steady state. They were effective in managing the other team members that assisted in the process. The documentation RS compiled gave me confidence that our insurance provider had the necessary inputs to make a proper decision with respect to coverage. I would highly recommend this team. Well done all around! 5 Stars.”
“R&S did a great job after we had a pipe leak. The team lead, Ferlundo , is a consummate professional and changed his schedule to make sure he could arrive after I got home from work. Highly recommend!”
“I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with Restoration Specialists, and I strongly urge others—especially USAA members—not to work with them. They overcharged significantly for the work performed—something confirmed by multiple independent contractors I brought in after the fact. Their negligence even caused a flood in my next-door neighbor’s unit, and instead of taking responsibility, multiple employees lied and tried to blame my neighbor, who had nothing to do with it. The only reason they eventually stepped in to address the issue was because my neighbor threatened legal action—against us, even though Restoration Specialists was clearly at fault. To make matters worse, they left our condo in complete disarray, despite charging USAA for “removing everything”—which they did not do. We had to call them to reinstall a door they had improperly removed. After thousands of dollars in unjustified charges and almost being dragged into a lawsuit due to their negligence, they had the audacity to charge us an extra $500 just to move our belongings back into our condo. Then, they escalated things by threatening to put a lien on our property, even though they had been holding the USAA insurance check the entire time without informing us. After weeks of no communication about the payment, they suddenly demanded we sign and return documents within 24 hours—all while they had been in possession of the check the entire time. This company is the definition of unprofessional, dishonest, and manipulative. I’ve filed two formal complaints with USAA and sent a detailed email to their CEO urging them to remove Restoration Specialists from their list of recommended vendors. No homeowner should be treated the way we were. Proceed with extreme caution.”
“Restoration Specialists took care of my water damage following a water heater leak. They were fast to my house and thorough in clean up. Once the water was cleared and everything dried they worked to get my damage repaired. Of course my insurance company tried to take some short cuts, but Restoration Specialists was not having it! They submitted their own estimates and negotiated with insurance to return my home to the state it was in prior to the damage. Actually, as I write this I would argue that I am happier with my replaced flooring/painting/ and sink replacement! No one likes to come home to a water damaged home. Restoration Specialists turned my terrible moment into as positive an experience as I have had as a home owner. No hesitation recommending this company!”
