“I highly discourage international students from applying to the CSE graduate department at this institution. My experience exposed severe administrative disorganization, a lack of inclusivity, and misleading advising practices. The advising department explicitly assured me that achieving a TOEFL score meeting their requirement was the necessary threshold for my application to be admitted. I dedicated over a year to intensive preparation and achieved a high score on the TOEFL which was above their requirement, only to have the department go silent and ultimately issue a generic denial. This process completely drained a year of my time and professional planning based on misleading guidance. Compounding this, the CSE faculty members proved to be completely biased and inconsiderate toward international applicants. I was instructed to reach out to a potential supervisor to back my application, yet despite sending multiple professional email requests tailored to their research, not a single faculty member replied to even one email. Furthermore, their operational follow-through is deeply flawed. I was promised an application fee waiver with a 10-business-day turnaround, but after more tha”
“I enrolled in UTA’s MSN nursing program expecting to be challenged academically and supported as a student. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. The most disappointing part of the program was what I felt was unfair grading. I reached out to my instructors for clarification and appealed to administrators, hoping someone would review my concerns or at least have an open conversation with me. Instead, I felt ignored and dismissed. Rather than feeling like a student whose success mattered, I felt like just another tuition payment. Graduate school is stressful enough, but it’s even more discouraging when you feel that your concerns are not heard. Every student deserves transparency, fairness, and the opportunity to have legitimate questions addressed. My advice to anyone considering this program is simple: do your homework. Speak with current and former students, ask difficult questions about grading policies, faculty support, and how student concerns are handled before committing your time and money. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend UTA’s MSN nursing program. If you value open communication, fair treatment, and feeling supported throughout your educatio”
“You have to pay for parking yet no one is guaranteed a spot. I live 5 miles away, drove there with 1 hour before my class started, could not find a parking space. Also, they shut down the only building with real, warm food in it. You know, so that you have no choice but to pay UTA for THEIR dining card. I refuse, I would rather go hungry. As if all that is not bad enough, IF you do manage to make it to class, the temperatures are NEVER comfortable. In the summer, they do not turn the AC down to the point where people are sweating. In the winter it is also WAY TOO HOT! Even wearing a t shirt and pants, you will SWEAT. The financial aid disbursement is ALWAYS late. Every semester I've attended. Also, they randomly change your disbursement? I've had it happen 4 times in just 1 semester! And it has happened EVERY semester, though the number of times they alter it change. Advisors are quite hit and miss. It is incredibly hard to get an appointment scheduled with any of them. Some of them are damn good, but the ones in the deans office will NOT help you. They will give you false information because they genuinely do not care about your homelessness, abuse, no care at all. I never wa”
“If i could leave a 0 star review, I would. My financial aid has been retroactively rescinded and misappropriated 3 times now. You cannot speak to anyone on the phone ever. I went to the school to get it all figured out, they had no answer for what happened, just told me they fixed it. School start date comes around, and again we're back in the same boat with no answers and they don't know why my financial aid keeps changing. If you get dropped from your classes for an error on their end, you have to pray that no one on the waitlist took your spot and reenroll in the class.”
“If there one word to describe this college, it would be awful! Academics: The professors in the Applied Statistics & Data Science program are years behind the industry. We’re in the age of AI agents, LLMs, and production ML pipelines and they’re still teaching basic neural networks like it’s 2015. No transformers, no modern NLP, no MLOps, no deployment, no system design. The curriculum feels like it was written a decade ago and never revisited. What I actually learned, I learned myself using skills I developed entirely outside the classroom. Discrimination: As an international student, I experienced clear bias in grading, in group dynamics, and in how concerns were handled by faculty. Complaints go nowhere. The environment is isolating by design, and no one in administration cares. Student culture: Group projects are a nightmare. Most students contribute nothing and coast on the work of one or two people. I couldn’t even choose teammates because the pool was full of people who refused to put in effort. There’s zero accountability from professors they don’t care who did the work as long as something gets submitted. Infrastructure & Administration: Everything is managed by students, ”
“A system that punishes students for its own delays This administrative system is deeply flawed and unfair. Requests submitted on time are routinely processed late especially around holidays yet students are the ones punished financially for delays they have absolutely no control over. I followed the rules, submitted my drop requests within the stated deadlines, and acted in good faith. However, because the university took days to process approvals, the system retroactively assigned later “effective dates,” reducing refunds and marking withdrawals. Instead of acknowledging internal delays, responsibility was shifted entirely onto the student. What makes this worse is the complete lack of understanding or accountability. Accelerated courses with compressed timelines give students almost no realistic window to assess workload, yet the system shows zero flexibility. The message is clear: no matter how responsibly you act, you pay the price for administrative inefficiency. This process is rigid, outdated, and disconnected from student reality. A university should not profit from its own slow processing while blaming students for the consequences”
“I am very fed up with this school. The only good thing about this school are the professors. I was recently enrolled full time and was dropped from my classes due to nonpayment with barley any notice. I had accepted all financial aid and pell grants and was still dropped from my final semester of my prerequisites before applying for my undergraduate program. It was nearly impossible to get in touch with someone to understand why this happened. This is the second semester in a row that this has happened. Save yourself the stress and find a different school.”
“UTA has been extremely unhelpful regarding financial aid. Processing times were slow, and even though I submitted all required documents on time, I was still threatened with having my classes dropped for non‑payment. I was told I would receive a call before the drop deadline with a resolution, but no one ever contacted me. The lack of communication and urgency caused unnecessary stress.”
“Do NOT enroll in this school! They DO NOT CARE and are GREEDY. Look at the other comments, they all say the same thing. The people there are heartless robots and don't care about college kids. Those on staff there are VERY unprofessional and lack the skills needed to care about the future of those who may be struggling. Parents do not send your children to this school.”
“Kids here on Greek Row...waaaaay to possessive up and down Cooper Street to make any common sense whatsoever based on the neighborhood. For example, within a 5 mile radius...all the way in and around campus.... shots are fired at least 2 to 3 times a month.... Rutgers has more control over community radius than this University ever could or will...lol.. 👎👎👎👎🤦🤦🤦”
“Proud to be a graduate of UTA class of 1984, degree in civil engineering. We several great professors like Dr Syed Qasim, Dr Matthew, Dr Huang & Dr Hayne. Hope to visit UTA in the near future.”
“Planned on enrolling to UTA, when I called to request information I spoke with a very nice lady who then transferred me over to a different department to get more information/details. My interaction with a guy named Ed was so awful. First he answered the phone with horrible phone etiquette, then I stated it was hard to hear him and he YELLED at me on the phone. I asked to speak with someone else he then said he has been doing this for years that he is a senior student for 15 years which is very irrelevant to me, also frightening because I can imagine how many have been spoken to in the way he responded. I’m glad I came to the reviews after seeing others have experienced the same with staff I do not think I will be attending this school anymore after that. People want to go to a school that offers a good experience while furthering their education it’s very unfortunate having staff members who care about their ego than helping others.”
“always willing to help admission has been very helpful and informative reqarding my continued pursue of my degree. Demi is a leader in this department and jacquline , Amanda thank you so very much.”
“I earned my first degree here and decided to stay for my master’s because it seemed easier than transferring. Unfortunately, my experience at the master’s level has been disappointing. Most professors do not seem to care or make an effort to help. At first, I thought it was just one or two classes, but over time I realized that almost every professor I had was vague and unengaged. I came here wanting to learn and grow, but that hasn’t happened. Financial aid has also been a major issue. During my undergrad, it was my only way to pay for school, and their communication was poor then—and still is. When you call, staff usually know very little and tell you to email instead, but emails often take more than 10 days to get even a partial response. At one point, they withheld my financial aid for the last payment on a course, forcing me to take out a loan to cover it. Two weeks later, they emailed saying they had misread the information and issued a refund. Not everyone can afford to take out a loan like that, especially when they depend heavily on financial aid. Overall, communication between departments, students, and professors is poor, and I have not seen any improvement during my t”
“Classes are solid, professors actually care, and campus life is way better than I expected. The only real downside is housing. Maintenence takes forever, and the price definitely doesn’t match the quality you’re getting. But outside of that, the university is honestly amazing. I'd recommend off campus housing tho.”
“Beautiful campus DI competition was extremely organized pin trading was a whole new experience for us and really good parking was great if you come early.”
“- A wonderful place to learn as well as work - Students come here from all over the world for UnderGraduation, Graduation, PhD etc - Highly talented Professors - Great facilities for students - Wide variety of courses - Location of the university is great - Huge University when it comes to size - One of the most populated universities in the USA”
“Went to 3 different buildings, and all of them smell horrible. Imagine a cat ladies house with a bad pee smell. Its like that but weed. It is so strong and no matter where you go you cant escape it. Every room I went to was just as bad as the last. Its like someone is spraying Ganga scented fabreeze in every room and hallway. Reflects who and what type of person goes here. Definitely about to pick a different school. One with standards, rules that are enforced, and students that respect a public area.”
“This is a first class university. Anyone should be proud to attend and graduate.”
“I was told by the music director that I didn't have the ability to stay in their music dept. Mrs. Buckout said that made me feel inferior.”
