“We chose Backyard Office to build our custom farmhouse office because of the good reviews and we liked the idea of not having to manage the project ourselves. We chose a building that we saw on their instagram page thinking it would be a fairly smooth process since they have built the exact unit before. Unfortunately, we were wrong. We ran into issues from the beginning with the foundation and framing. They then built the deck wrong which had to be repaired, along with issues with the dry wall and paint (which were never fully resolved). Overall, the contractor’s work was sloppy and we caught tons of mistakes that the project manager missed. The whole process from start to finish took longer than it should have due to the mistakes. The owner (Quinn) was responsive and willing to work with us but if we could go back we would have 100% chosen a different company. We are finally moved in and overall are happy with the office space but it was a painful process.”

From the start, Quinn was super communicative - leading us through the custom design process and keeping us posted on price the entire way. His attention to detail and communication surpassed our expectations - his finished project was perfectly done, a high quality build, with no cut corners. It took 10 weeks from the day we signed the contract through to completion, and we were happy with that pace. “First, the headline: Should you have your backyard office built by BYO? Yes, I think you should! Down below I’ll talk through some of the good and (the very little bit of) bad, but a high level this was a painless process that resulted in a beautiful, functional and affordable building. So, the good: More or less, BYO lived up to their promise: I signed one piece of paper and they handled the rest. From digging the foundation to the electrical to the paint job, BYO and their contractors took us from dirt patch to finished, permitted building in about 7 weeks. The finished product has been the subject of lots of compliments from neighbors and co-workers. There are lots of little, thoughtful touches like the angled shiplap ceiling that gives their work a premium feel. I’m also not a contractor, but they clearly didn’t cut corners anywhere. R15 insulation, double pane windows and they even properly spaced the studs which is more than I can say for the folks who flipped our house. Their contractors were also kind and thoughtful. At one point we had a birthday party coming up right alongside a big dig in the backyard. The crew filled in all the holes and even went as far as to replac”

“I am an artist who was in need of a space to create- and so I searched for a company that could make my dreams come true and build me a custom art studio, and found Backyard Office. I called to inquire, and Quinn was out to my house the very next morning to measure and talk with me about what I needed. Shortly after that, we were ready to begin the project- and Quinn and Jose came out to introduce me to the crews and get started. After speaking with a number of companies that build similar products, Backyard Office was the obvious choice.
