About
Archie's Gardenland runs a garden center in Fort Worth that focuses on selling plants and supplies for local yards. They carry indoor and outdoor plants suited to Texas conditions along with pottery in many sizes from small vases to large pots. Staff members assist customers with selections for sun or shade spots and offer advice on what will hold up in home gardens. Reviewers note the large grounds include multiple greenhouses and displays of native plants along with tools and decor items.
Customers describe trips to buy wax myrtles and other shrubs where one purchase later failed and the manager asked for photos but gave no reply. Others report picking up healthy Japanese maples or asparagus ferns after talking with staff member Mauricio who answered questions ahead of time. Some found bugs in plants bought during March visits while others loaded flats of ground cover and holly bushes without issues. Several mention dynamic pricing that changes with plant size which helped beginners decide on smaller or larger options for their spaces.
Staff load cars with care using plastic liners to avoid messes and keep the grounds shaded for comfortable browsing. Reviewers note fair prices on soil and decor plus an ask a question booth with horticulturists available. The spot draws people from across Fort Worth for its variety of herbs trees climbers and ground covers though one visit left a shopper without any staff help after saying hello. Communication gets mixed notes with some praising quick friendly answers and others waiting on responses that never came.
The business shows a 4.7 rating from 384 reviews. Recurring topics cover strong plant quality and helpful employees who know local conditions yet a few point out pests on purchases or follow up gaps after warranty questions.

What Customers Say
“Great little hidden gem in FtWorth. Vast selection of indoor/outdoor plants for various climates, ask a garden associate for help with your own space. Most were suited for the Texas climate, but some can be very finicky so be cautious of making a purchase that won't survive the space you have available in your garden/home. Pottery selection was very impressive and on point, something for everyone from the smallest bud vases to the largest hanging pots you will see in Texas. Proper "Texas" sized pottery we will call it y'all haha. I think Archie's is a staple for the gardening community, and I would love to see them have a much more extensive employee outreach group that spoke to people and helped them create the space they are there to fill. Being able to envision your personal garden laid out by an associate would increase ticket prices considerably, while helping those who might not know what can mix, and what wont work. There were a few areas where the inventory was low, I'm not sure if we came after a rush, if the Texas heat killed a bunch, or if they missed a truck from a supplier. Either way, there was plenty of options to get the job done.”
“I’ve been a loyal customer of Archie’s for about five years and have spent thousands of dollars there. When one of the three 7-gallon wax myrtles I purchased failed, I called and spoke with the manager. He told me there wasn’t a formal warranty but asked me to email photos of the shrubs so he could review the situation. I did exactly that but never received any response. I wasn’t expecting a refund. Even a simple reply or some advice would have been appreciated. If you’re going to ask a customer to take the time to send photos, the least you can do is respond. Unfortunately, the lack of follow-through and customer service is why I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. Update: Archie’s Gardenland did eventually reach out to me by email regarding the 7-gallon wax myrtle that failed after purchase. Although they normally do not have a warranty on plants, I really appreciate that they reviewed the situation and gave me credit for the failed wax myrtle. I’m grateful they were willing to work with me and make it right. Thank you to Archie’s for the follow-up and customer service.”
“The plant selection and quality here are above average and the employees are always knowledgeable and helpful. I was an Heirloom regular, and would love to see something similar comes back in the future! As a pet owner, I do hope the rumors of the missing animals are addressed and are untrue. While I completely understand the need to keep inventory sellable, I hope a humane resolution is in the works.”
“If you love plants, this place is a dream. Knowledgeable staff, beautiful selection, and such a peaceful environment. It’s hard to leave without bringing something home.”
“Fort Worth’s answer to North Haven Gardens in Dallas! This is truly the best garden center in Fort Worth, thanks to the staff’s incredible knowledge, thoughtful advice, and genuine assistance. They make gardening feel easy and enjoyable. In my opinion, it’s the Neiman Marcus of garden centers—an exceptional experience from start to finish!”
“Is this voted #1 garden center in DFW?? Because it should be. A perfect spot for myself a beginner gardener (plant lover). You can come get inspiration or plan your area. This place is HUGE. I really like the dynamic pricing. Every plant is priced by its growth and not just the same by type. It really helped me decide whether to go big or small. I loved the experience and I will probably only shop here from now on.”
“We come half way across Fort Worth for their great selection! Everything from sun to shade, herbs to trees, climbers to ground cover, you can find it here.”
“The absolute BEST in Fort Worth! The staff is always friendly, available to help and their customer service is top notch. The guys who load your car are careful to protect the inside of your vehicle and always put down plastic to ensure messes are avoided. They always have a great selection’”
“This is a BEAUTIFUL place with every plant, flower and shrub you could possibly want! I've been multiple times and had good luck, but I did go in March to get a load of flowers for my pots, and it turns out that every plant I got from there had bugs! I know it was from there because all the soil and plants I used from elsewhere are doing just fine. So disappointed because I spent a chunk of change!”
“WOW!!! What an amazing garden delight. It was my first time here. I saw they were celebrating 90 years and having a party. I had been searching for another Texas Sage for my yard, so it seemed like a good excuse to check out the band and Heirloom food truck. This place was a dream. It was filled with all sizes of pumpkins and all different types of gourds. I didn't go thru all the greenhouses but had already spent 90 minutes there. I found what I needed and also bought a Purple Heart after seeing one flowing in the Perennial section. I almost bought a banana tree. I had to stay focused. I love that they have all the Texas native plants I have been looking for. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They even offer help to the car. There were many great deals that day, and it looks like their prices are great any day you stop by. There are so many cute planters. Soil. Fertilizer. Benches. Garden sculptures. Cute stickers at the register. They will have what you never knew you needed.”
“This is a very cute plant store! They have everything from indoor houseplants, outdoor plants, and other things like soil and decor. Most of the prices were reasonable and it wasn’t terribly expensive except for a few hoyas, like mathilde. There was 1 strand and it was like $45, which is crazy because at other stores near this one had full pots for the same price. The plants seem to be well taken care of and I didn’t notice any pests like fungus gnats on the plants which is a good sign. I bought an asparagus fern for $8, which was exciting because I’ve been wanting one for a long time, some flowers, and purple potato vines that I can’t seem to find anywhere else. My mom also bought several plants. So far everything we bought is doing really well. I will be back because even just looking around at everything was also fun!”
“Healthy plants…nice assortment….easy checkout…..help loading…..shady environment!! Good prices! I love this garden center!!”
“Even during the off season in December, and that darn supply-chain challenge..."Archie" had plenty of inventory...inside and out! We came shopping for some Holly bushes and some ground-cover, and left with two plants and a flat! Everything looked so healthy, especially for this time of year. Decent price points on all that we looked at, and we loved strolling the grounds, enjoying all their unique and well thought out decor and displays. Again... inside and out! Nice Holiday decor and accents playfully displayed throughout the place. Our 4th time here, and we seem to always walk out with a wagon full of goodies!”
“Awesome store. They have almost everything. They have a plant / tree person in the Ask A Question booth! How great is that. You can actually ask questions without having to search high and low and they actually know stuff!”
“Great variety and pricing. Friendly knowledgeable staff.”
“Archie’s is amazing. Super friendly staff with deep knowledge of the local environment and conditions. We bought a lovely Japanese maple tree here and am eager to get it planted.”
“I came here to purchase two plants from a very kind employee I corresponded with beforehand named Mauricio. He was so helpful and kind. I instantly fell in love with the store! They had the healthiest and most beautiful selection of plants along with plant accessories, pots, decor, and tools. I came here for a single plant and left with all of this ! I'll be back for sure!”
“Absolutely love visiting this place! First time in I had 3 people offer to show me around it's so big. Also had 3 horticulturist on hand to answer the many questions I had. Very great set up even better gardens. Will be back for sure.”
“This place is AWESOME, one of the best nurseries I’ve been to. The prices are fair and I love all the little trinkets.”
“Just went there. Got a couple bulbs. Walked around not one person there to help. Just people looking at you waiting for you to leave. Had said hi to some of the staff no response. Was gonna purchase a few cases of begonias. Left with a few bulbs. Not much of a first visit.”
