“I called to request a quote to have an ignition cylinder removed on a 1978 C10 restoration project. The column is brand new from Ididit, but I lost the keys. They wanted $455 to remove the ignition cylinder. For an experienced locksmith, using a Lishi tool to pick and decode an ignition cylinder takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. I understand travel, etc., but we're generally talking 5 minutes for an old school lock like this. I'll either pick it myself, or get a replacement key from the manufacturer versus pay nearly half the cost of the new column.”
