About

ClusterFix Texas works as a locksmith out of San Marcos and focuses on automotive electronics repairs. They handle instrument clusters, engine control units, immobilizers, ignition switches and speedometer modules for cars and trucks. Customers drop off parts or mail them in for cloning, reprogramming and calibration work that gets vehicles back on the road without always needing a dealer visit.

Reviews describe fixes on a 2011 Camaro cluster completed the same day, BMW engine control units cloned from a mailed part, Mercedes ignition and door modules restored after dealerships turned them away, and a Ford F150 speedometer sorted by Lasbrey in roughly half an hour. Truck owners report transmission shifts smoothing out once a PSOM was returned and installed, while others note Audi and Honda clusters adjusted to remove faults that had left the cars undrivable.

The shop accepts mail-in jobs with online tracking and lists prices on its site, which brings drivers from the Austin area for quick stops that sometimes finish in under an hour. Turnaround averages a few days once parts arrive, and several customers say the cost undercuts dealer quotes by a wide margin. A few reviews mention unanswered calls and weeks without updates on paid work, while others note steady contact throughout the process.

Mixed feedback centers on solid repairs that restore function and occasional problems with follow-through or lost items. Google shows 4.3 from 67 reviews. DIRT Score 3.8 from reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say

“I needed my instrument cluster fixed on my 2011 Chevy Camaro and he got me in that same day..He was quick, careful and did an excellent job. I appreciate your politeness and concern. Thank you very much .”

“The parts for my Mercedes SUV were received by Clusterfix of Texas, Over 3 weeks ago I have been unable to get an update regarding repairs for over 2,weeks the repairs have already been paid for. I am at the point where I am going to call my credit card company and get a refund and I’m looking a filing a case in small claims court. I have never done that in my life, but Clusterfix of Texas has given me no choice. If they take care of my issue and repair my vehicles computers I will update this bad review to reflect. I have tried countless times to reach out and am now at my wits I end as by vehicle has turned into a large paper-weight .”

“I sent in a PSOM and got it back. It didn't work. I took it to my mechanic who tested it and checked all my wiring and said the PSOM is faulty. I have called and left messages, no one returns my call and no one answers the phone. They ripped me off $300. Do not use them if you want it done right”

Jerry Winkelmann

“DO NOT GO HERE! This place is very unprofessional and I had a horrible experience. Was having issues with my car saying keyless entry system and was told water seeped into my door handle and caused a short. While they did get my car up and running, they duct taped my door handle back together and called it a day for $954. When I questioned this they told be my door handle looked like that when I brought it in and if I wanted it replaced it would cost me $2,300. They also charge a 9% fee if your use card otherwise ask you to pay cash. Very sketchy !!!”

Holly Johnson

“Timely service and worked straight away once installed without dealer recalibration. Notice the after photo on the left compared to the original. Saved my car.”

“I had a faulty ECU and needed to have it cloned to my replacement. Being in Austin, I found that quotes ranged from $250 to $410. The dealer quoted the higher amount, while the auto locksmith offered the lower end. I searched online and contacted about ten different businesses. Cluster Fix was one of the few that listed their prices on their website and promised a quick turnaround. The excellent part was that they didn’t require my car to complete the process. I made the 50-minute drive and dropped off my ECU. I drove 8 minutes to the San Marcos Outlet, bought some clothes, and returned in 40 minutes. My ECU was ready to go. I get home, plug it in, and my car fires right up. I have no codes or no check engine lights. This was yesterday, and my car rode much better. I just want to thank you for being straightforward and honest about what you could do.”

“I had a faulty ism/dsm in my Mercedes GL450, Clusterfix was able to flash a new one for me after the dealership was not helpful at all. Saved myself tons of money. Clusterfix was a huge help”

Alex Rangel

“my truck had all types of transmission issues chased it down to the vss which took me right to the psom. I sent my psom down to cluster fix and in 10 days my truck runs better than it has it many years . Thanks cluster fix you are highly recommend”

“Left me high and dry! Had sent them a 2000 Mercedes S430 ignition switch (EIS) for repair back in November 2023. They determined it was not repairable and the guy admitted they don’t have the ability to bench test. So I then sent in a donor EIS which they said worked but that irregularities were somehow found with my original key. So I paid for a new key. All of this happened fairly quick and I received the EIS along with my original back fairly quickly. The quick turnaround is the only reason why I gave this place 2 stars but it’s downhill from there. I install the EIS and nothing, As if nothing were there. I attach my original and I at least can intermittently crank the car but it no longer fires on like it used to but only with the new key they provided which doesn’t even work the keyless entry ( which the guy did not disclose that ). The original keys no longer recognized. So now my car is worse off than before. This saga started late November 2023, I’ve called 5 times, texted multiple times. 2 of the calls, the dude said he can look into sourcing a replacement and that he’d reach out regarding how much extra it would cost me. Never heard anything for weeks / months. I”

“Timing was slightly longer than expected but the job was phenomenal my car was up and running with a duplicate key and a new cluster reprogram highly recommended beat Mercedes dealership by landslide”

Fredo B

“Had DME cloning done on BMW e90, very professional, knowledgeable and quick service.”

“This guy is the real deal, believe the hype and the ratings here. He fixed my SVT Focus cluster that no one would even try. He did it quickly and got it back to me fast. I cannot recommend him enough. 10/10 do it again!”

JF Gregory

“Took my 1995 ford F150 speedometer to get fixed expected to leave it there. Lasbrey said he could fix it in about 30 minutes if I wanted to wait which I did. My truck had hard shifts , speedometer not working. Re installed it and everything worked perfect and truck shifted smooth and speedo and LCD worked great. This truck was passed down from my wife’s father and grandfather so it’s nice to have it running again. Thank’s for your help.”

David Delgado

“Do not deal with this place! Price was lower than most, Sent them my PCM and never got it back! They will not answer my calls and let me know what’s happening! You get what you pay for!!!!”

Pete Johnston

“One day my car decided to not start and the Key wasn’t recognized by the system. Mercedes Benz and other businesses around me were quoting me b/t $800 to $2,000 + diagnostic fees for an EIS repair for my Mercedes (most wanted to install a new one rather than repair). I looked up private shops and even then they were charging $500 plus, plus diagnostic fees. However, I came upon Clusterfix and they gave me a reasonable price of $260 for the EIS repair + $35 for a new key. I took out the EIS and sent it to them through mail. The turn around time was a quick one day process once they received it and it was back home after a week. My car is running smooth and starts up perfectly again.”

“I bought a car from here and they told me if there is any issues to bring it back knowing I had no warranty I had to take there word for it .. had a few minor problems that they fixed up free of charge as they said they would !!”

Daniel Navarro

“This was A+++ service. I had a Honda digital cluster that needed to be adjusted and it works as promised. It wasn’t fixed the first time as I had to make a couple of trips, but I am a happy, satisfied customer. Communication was excellent along the whole way, as I saw some reviews where there was poor communication, which I did not experience. The distance from my house was an hour away, but I was willing to drive there for a local fix and I’m glad I did. Also wanted to note, I normally don’t leave reviews at all.”

“Solved a complicated ecu problem I was having with an Audi and kept me informed every step of the way. Great ppl, very knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend.”

“Beware! Beware! Beware! This place is a joke! I don't have enough room on this review to tell it all! Sent them my ignition (&key to avoid extra programming) but they claim they never received it. After providing tracking with proof of delivery (signature required) they go silent. 2 months later they say they can't locate ignition & key..then they say it was delivered next door...wrong, remember "tracking with signature"...then they repaired & sent it out to wrong customer...lies. Only after I initiate the credit card charged back do I every receive one call. Then magically they want to help! They proceed to tell me they found my ignition & repaired it but now I need to pay additional $ for new key. I sent the original matching key to avoid this exact problem. MANY OTHER ISSUES BUT NOW THEY ARE HOLDING MY IGNITION (& Key) FOR RANSOM! They say they fixed it but if I don't pay the additional $$ for new key they will "unrepair" my ignition back minus key. Please stay as far away as you can from this place! You've been warned!”

“Excellent service!! I needed an ignition switch programmed and also my ESL locked my car wouldn't respond at all to the key for my 2011 C300 Mercedes Benz .The dealer wanted $2000. I only paid $250 🙌 They fixed the switch programmed it and sent it right back to me in Richmond,Va . In a matter of 3 days I had it back in my hand ! My car is back running and I'm sooo happy! I definitely recommend ClusterFix Texas to anyone!! Also , you have to have a damn good mechanic to do the job and that was my husband!!! Thanks again ClusterFix Texas your the BEST!!!”
