About

First Local Locksmith LLC runs locksmith services out of Schertz, Texas. Techs named Jacob and David handle vehicle unlocks, key fob replacements, mortise cylinder fixes on business doors, and access to storage units or freightliners. They respond to calls for jammed locks on company trucks and homes, plus situations where keys get lost or stuck during off hours.

Reviewers describe calls for locked car doors after gas stops, stuck business door keys on Saturday mornings, and failed starts tied to bad fobs. Jacob arrived for freightliner entry and storage unit work that turned more involved than expected, completing the jobs without extra delays in those cases. David handled a jammed mortise cylinder by swapping it and cutting two new keys in under ten minutes on a weekend morning. Other jobs involved home entry after lost keys and car access where prior vehicle knowledge helped restore function.

Dispatch answers calls fast enough for some to get a callback in minutes, with techs showing up in 20 to 30 minutes on weekends or holidays when stated. Reviewers note service across local spots with arrivals sometimes stretching past the first estimate, and pricing details held until after the work finishes rather than confirmed upfront on the phone. Hours cover early mornings and holidays based on the jobs described.

The company holds a Google rating of 4.6 from 2589 reviews. Recurring topics include quick arrivals by named techs alongside repeated notes on final charges that exceeded what callers expected from initial talks. DIRT Score 4.5 from 2589 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say

“Closed on a new home. Scheduled a tech who called at 1:19 pm and stated he would be at our new house in 1.5 hours. He showed up in a mustang not a utility vehicle 2 hours later, discussed what was needed and he stated he needed an hour to go get the supplies. We took off to handle utilities and came back to the house to wait for him. I called at him at 4:06 and he said he would be back in 1/2 hour. No show, so we left and at 5:27 he called to apologize that his boss sent him on a more important call. This is not professional and they wasted our entire afternoon. I told him to let his boss know that due to this poor customer service we were seeking someone else to provide service. The tech didn't seem to mind. Additional he wanted cash or he was charging a fee for non cash payment. So glad we didn't pay in advance. In don't think they really wanted our business.”

“Jacob Showed up to help me get into my freightliner and was prompt and professional. After reading reviews I was skeptical about how much it would be. Definitely not what I was expecting. Super affordable thank you guys for all your help. Don't let the reviews fool you. Some people may just be mad but I was actually happy so thank you again.”

“This company is extremely wrong, I called to get my company truck door open. I locked the keys in the truck while pumping gas so I looked in google and found them. So I gave them a call gave them my location year make and model of vehicle. I just needed them to unlock the door no key replacement or anything else like that. I asked for a quote and the man said that a technician will call me shortly to confirm everything and give a quote before agreeing to service. They never called so I gave them a call back after about 15 minutes, a different man answered gave the same info as the first. They asked again how much will it be for the service. Tech said they will give mea price when they get there said okay. Took about 20 minutes tech calls as he’s pulling up show him the vehicle and ask once again how much will this be. He said let me open it real quick then I will write you the invoice. Biggest mistake I made took him 2 minutes to open the truck. Extremely grateful for his service then goes back to his truck with my id. He comes back and shows me the invoice for 398$ for a 2 minute service. 125$ gas fee for them driving 15 minutes 250$ fee for after hours. Which on there website say”

“My company's mortise lock cylinder on the front door completely locked up and none of our keys would work on a Saturday morning at 7:00AM. I called several other locksmiths and the dispatcher said someone would call me back in a few minutes. I then called First Local Locksmith LLC and David called me within 3 minutes from hanging up with the dispatch. He said he would be at the office in 20 minutes, he indeed showed up 20 minutes later. He knew what he was doing, replaced my lock and gave me 2 new working keys in less than 10 minutes. As he was leaving, then the other companies started to call back. Sorry guys, David answered the call, he got the business. He was professional, friendly, quick, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone. (I expected to pay emergency fees/weekend call fees due to it being a Saturday before 8:00AM, so no complaints on the billing side.)”

“I want to share my experience so others can make an informed decision before using this locksmith company. I had lost both my vehicle key fob and my shop keys, so I called several locksmiths to compare prices. This company quoted me $125 to come out and told me there might be an additional $50 to $60 depending on the work required. During that initial phone call, I specifically explained that I needed a replacement key fob for my vehicle, and I was told, "No problem." I even asked if there would be any other charges, and I was assured there would not be anything significant beyond what had already been discussed. I agreed to the service based on those representations. A technician arrived about 40 minutes later. Because he had not been given my information, I had to explain everything again, including that I needed a replacement key fob. After about 30 minutes, he announced that the job was finished. When I walked over to my car, I noticed he was standing by his truck talking on the phone while tightly gripping the key so that only the metal blade was visible. It immediately struck me as unusual. Once he finished his call, he demonstrated that the key unlocked the door but continue”

“I had issues with my car starting, I thought it was the key fob so I called and had jacob come down and take a look. His prior knowledge on vehicles not only helped me with my keyfob brought my car car back to life. DEFINITELY would recommend going here again 100%.”

“I had a very frustrating experience with this company due to misleading pricing and unprofessional behavior. Before the technician came out, I explicitly asked for the full price. I was clearly told it would be $65, with the note that the exact total would be confirmed upon arrival. Based on that, I agreed to the service. After waiting about an hour, the technician arrived, looked at my car, and immediately said the price would be $299. When I reminded him that I had been quoted $65, he said that was just a “precharge” for coming out. At no point during the phone call was that term used or explained; my question about total cost was answered with “$65,” which is very misleading. When I tried to discuss this, his attitude became dismissive and disrespectful. He made comments like “What did you expect?” and “Did you think it was going to be that cheap?” while interrupting me and not allowing a real conversation. I understand that prices can vary depending on the situation, but clear and honest communication upfront is the bare minimum. This felt like a bait-and-switch, followed by poor customer service. I would strongly urge others to avoid using this company altogether.”

“For a whopping $384 you too can gain access to a vehicle that doesn’t belong to you or anyone in the household, he’ll even make you a key for the vehicle once he unlocks the door. No need for identification, proof of ownership or anything!! As heard on my house cameras I asked for a quote 4 times and was not given a price until the job was done. Pros: Got here quick within 30 min. No questions, proof of ownership or ID required. Cons: Will not give you a price until the job is done, then creates an invoice and drops the price on you.”

“jacob got out here quick got us taken care professionally thank you so much for taking care of us”

“This company is full of scammers. I feel embarrassed that I was taken advantage of. I normally read reviews before using a business, but I didn't and now regret it. Our business door lock was having issues with the key getting stuck. I thought this was a simple fix or some lubrication would do the job. The technician that came out did not quote me for anything nor did the dispatcher. The lock that was only sticking ended up being replaced entirely and I didn't approve that. This work took less than an hour, but I ended up being charged over $1900! There was even a wild 10% credit card fee on the invoice. It looks like the credit card fee changes whenever they feel like it based on other reviews here. This is highway robbery. I called to complain and was told that the business owners would contact me, but the technician called me instead. The dispatcher told me he was doing me a favor and thought I overpaid too, but no leadership ever contacted me. Their prices are outrageous. Do not use this business!”

“My wife and I had a very bad experience because of their vague pricing and lack of communication. I was told 199 then after the service was complete it was over 600 dollars. There was no conversation about how much it would be before they started the service, just a final bill. We were taken advantage of and completely blind sided by their price and lack of communication. And from the other reviews this is a common practice of theirs. So if you like open ended pricing and being taken advantage of because of your possible emergency or your need for keys use them. I'm sure you will get the same result as I did. I would leave no stars but Google says I have to at least leave 1 so it's not by my choice that I do so.”

Michael Ortega

“Never use again, this company broke my locks and charged me almost $1000, not to mention it’s 150$ just to come out to your home. And these ppl refuse to telll you how much they are charging you before the job is done. Save yourself some money and call a better company”

“David got here super fast on a memorial weekend Sunday and save my butt would definitely use this company again 10/10 service”

Thomas Mejia

“They broke my lock not picked and charged me 530 bucks. Wasn't told broke lock until examined later after payment. Was busy with grandfather who died hours ago. Then guy makes comment how it's good thing or some fortune cookie nonsense.”

Daniel Gonzales

“I just want to say Jacob was very efficient and professional and got me in my home very quickly. I highly recommend him”

“Headline: Extremely Overpriced – Be Wary of Hidden "Emergency" Fees I am writing this to warn others about the pricing structure here. While the service itself was fine, the communication and billing were unacceptable. I was told the technician would arrive in 20–25 minutes; he arrived in an hour and ignored my calls in between. Most importantly, I was charged $796 to unlock a vehicle—a job that took less than five minutes. Despite explicitly telling the dispatcher this was not an emergency, the locksmith claimed that requesting service "as soon as possible" justified an emergency rate. Expecting to pay around $250, I was shocked by a bill nearly triple that amount. This is not a sustainable way to build a loyal customer base. I will not be returning and suggest looking elsewhere for fair, transparent pricing.”

Windy Borstmayer

“Make me David made me a key and half the time he told me it would take. He was very kind very courteous gave me a lot of information and it was a great price. He’s also a good looking guy.”

“I had a great experience with Jacob at First Local Locksmith. We lost the keys to our storage unit and looked up this company on Google. Jacob ends up being assigned to the case and said he could arrive in half an hour. He arrived promptly. The lock was a cylindrical lock that was much more complicated than we thought, but Jacob worked his magic and was able to open our storage unit back up. Overall very happy with the service.”

Marvin Nim

“HORRIBLE service, I was told 20-30 min, turned into an hour. It took about 30 seconds to unlock my door and he charged me $400! I called to ask for a manager and was told that my complaint would be submitted to upper mgmt. When asked for a name, he refused to give me a name and was told I would be contacted. The guy sounded like he couldn't care less. After reading the reviews, I can see why, this is apparently normal for them. SCAMMERS and will be reporting to BBB. DONOT CALL these people, you've been warned.”

Ben Valverde

“Jacob did an amazing job at not only arriving to me quickly, but also at being very respectful and kind with my friends and I while helping us out. I 100% recommend!”
