“If I could give 0 stars I most definitely would!! Went into the ER 7/9 c/o right flank pain. Previous hospital stays due to sepsis, and a genetic liver disease. No Ct scans, got diagnosed with a UTI and sent home on antibiotics. Husband came home from work 7/10 (around 4 pm after not hearing from me all day) found me out of it. Brought me to another hospital and we are on night two of admissions due to sepsis. Tachycardia, 100.7 fever, & white count elevation. The antibiotic Hendricks gave me wouldn’t even treat the infection I have. My doctor told me to thank my husband for bringing me in or else I’d be a lot worse! Hendricks told my husband to give me Tylenol for pain after the doctor & nurse were informed that I’m not supposed to take Tylenol due to my liver, stated by previous doctors. I’m sure that bill will come speedy after they sent me home to die though! Good hospitals could atleast cross their T’s & dot their I’s, but in this case, this hospital failed me. With that being said, I DO NOT recommend Hendricks Memorial. Entire almost 7 hours I waited there felt like a joke.”

“I cannot express to you all how HORRIBLE this hospital is! I went to the ER multiple times because I was having blood and blood clots coming out of my peg tube with abdomenal pain. They were useless. A complete waste of time and money. I went on a Saturday with very, very painful abdomen pain. I was sent home. The very next day I went back. The pain in my abdomen worsened and I was still bleeding from my peg tube. Labs were drawn again. This time my liver enzymes tripled not even 18 hours in between. Again, I was sent home. Even as I lay on their hospital bed literally crying and begging them to help me. STILL got sent home. I ended up having to call my doctor in Dallas for help. I went to Dallas and they drew STAT labs. I was immediately hospitalized for FOUR days. It turns out when Hendricks replaced my peg tube, they had it too tight. Which caused an ulcer to form on my stomach lining. Which explains the GI bleed. My liver enzymes stayed elevated for the first two days, but on that third day trended downward. I had to have TWO procedures done and multiple lab tests, etc. All of this to say, IF YOU NEED GOOD CARE BY PHYSICIANS WHO ACTUALLY CARE. GO TO DALLAS. Do not waste your time, energy, and money going to a hospital where the physicians do not care about your wellbeing, health, nor are trained to use their critical thinking skills that they are supposed to be well trained in. Zero stars. Absolutely DO NOT recommend.”

“Listen up, Abilene, if you’re looking for a hospital that can turn “I think it’s just gas” into a full-blown quadruple bypass adventure, Hendrick Medical Center is the place. I walked into the ER convinced I was wasting everyone’s time with some epic indigestion. No real pain. Nothing dramatic. Then the tests started doing that suspense-movie thing—numbers creeping up just enough to make everyone pay attention. Next thing I know, I’m getting a heart cath… and the surgeon comes back with: “CABG x4.” Four bypasses. I went in expecting maybe a couple stents and a quick oil change. Instead, I got a full highway reconstruction project on my heart. Plot twist of the year. But here’s the part nobody tells you in hospital reviews: The heated blankets on demand? Game changer. I felt like I was at a luxury spa, except the staff also happened to be saving my life. 10/10, would absolutely request extra warmth while recovering from major surgery. And the food? Way better than it has any right to be. The Cajun Chicken Pasta was legitimately solid. At one point I caught myself looking forward to Tuesday’s menu, which feels like something no one expects to say in a hospital. Pro tip: skip the bacon—they already saved mine for someone else. All joking aside, the care was outstanding. From the ER team who took my “probably nothing” seriously, to the ICU staff, to the floor nurses who patiently put up with my stubborn “no pain meds” routine—everyone was calm, skilled, and genuinely kind. They took what I thought was a false alarm and turned it into a life-saving intervention. I’m already up, walking more every day, and grateful for a second chance I didn’t see coming. They saved my heart… which, as it turns out, was pretty important. Would trust them to rebuild it again. Prefer not to test that. Highly recommend.”

“This facility failed my loved one so horribly. We came in knowing treatment would not be life saving, but that it would absolutely be able to help with quality of life in remaining days. Save a few amazing nurses, the team failed them in so many ways. As well as other family members that have been patients in the past. Will add a more detailed review in the future but am just so devastated by the treatment that they received that I had to leave something for now. Such a lack of communication, care, and comprehensive knowledge. Patient is healthier now after just a DAY with the hospice team because so many aspects of care were neglected.”

“Do not go here! GROSS NEGLIGENCE! Misdiagnosed a severe leaking bowel abscess as a bladder infection. Discharged ER patient that presented with severely dehydration, unable to urinate, passing blood and unable keep anything down. Hendricks North did labs, provided 200mls of IV fluid to patient, antibiotics, a CT scan that was “clear” and discharged patient with oral antibiotics and oral nausea meds knowing full well the patient was unable to urinate or keep anything down and passing slimy mucus w/blood. Less than 3 hours after discharge (drive time directly to Midland Memorial 2 hrs) patient prepped for surgery at Midland.Memorial and receiving proper care. Gross negligence for discharging an ER patient in this condition. Hendricks performed a CT scan had it “read” and failed to catch the leaking bowel abscess that Midland ER docs saw on the CT image taken at Hendricks North. Thank goodness for Midland Memorial! If the patient had followed discharge instructions and returned to Hendricks North ER, I hate to think of the outcome. Since when is discharging a patient unable to urinate acceptable? Since when is discharging a dehydrated patient unable to keep anything down after receiving 200ml of IV fluids?”
