“Robert (the owner) is very pleasant individual and I am sure very knowledgeable for plumbing related issues. That said, his knowledge of irrigation and pump issues, in my opinion, is very limited but still charges a plumbers hourly rate of $167.50 per hour for that service. He spent more time explaining what the issue might be and what it didn't seem that it was than he did actually doing anything. I have had a number of plumbers perform work and never had one bill that high of a rate. He was actually onsite working for 2 1/2 hours but billed for 3. His $40 trip fee for 46 miles round trip was reasonable. After spending 2+ hours of testing electrical and musing over logistics of how to fix, his diagnosis was to replace the submersible pump and control box. A neighbor and friend came over, while Robert was still here, dug down to find the lines going to and from the pond pump. Spent 15 minutes on the internet to discover there was a reset switch on the control box, returned to push that button and the sprinkler system now works. His skill as a plumber may be very good but do NOT call for sprinkler related problems. He did 'give' me a 10% senior citizen discount but the bill was still over $488. He charges $168 per hour while the average doctor in the US, as of June 2024, is around $65. Look (and ask) before you leap.
