“I hired alternative plumbing to repair a busted pipe after the freeze. They came out to repair the pipe but didn’t leak check it because they said the glue needed 5hrs to cure before you can check it. They said if I had any issues I could call them and they would come fix it. I lined the newly replaced pipe back up only to discover they cross threaded the new connection, didn’t use pipe supports and that it still leaks! I contacted them several times to try to get them to make the repairs and they said they would show up but never did. DO NOT PAY UNTIL THEY LEAK CHECK YOUR NEW PIPE. Make sure you pay with a credit card too so you at least have a chance to get your money back. Do not use this company to repair your frozen pipe.”

“Our water heaters had been giving us issues for a while so we called Alternative Plumbing Solutions to diagnose the problem. We were ready to have them replaced but Phil recommended that we perform a chemical flush which should restore their capacity. That saved us a lot of money vs replacing them! They were on time, professional, and very reasonably priced and we wouldn't hesitate to use them again for any of our future plumbing needs. Thanks!”

“We contracted a full plumbing job for our new house with this company in early summer of 2018. We are still waiting for them to finish our job. Twice Philip has promised to come with workers to do final installations of faucets and toilet but twice did not show up or even call after to explain. I cannot recommend this plumber until he makes good on his word and finishes our job. It is very unprofessional to not show up when promised and not answer his messages. “They came and installed the hot water heater and it’s working now. Phillip gave me a fair price and came the next day. They even cleaned up after themselves. Everything was going fine but the finishing details I’m not happy with. The new drain pan hole is blocked by the side of the water heater. I asked them to come back and fix it I’m still waiting. The power to the internet in the attic was unplugged and never told me. Which left us without internet for 3 days. If they told me I would have understood. I would have given them a higher rating if they communicated with me better and be honest about it.”

“I called MANY plumbers for over 3 hours trying to get a repair for a pipe that burst from a freeze. Most had hundreds of people above me on their waiting list. When I contacted alternative plumbing, they put me on the schedule for fist thing the next morning. I had doubts if they would come, especially with my power out and my cell service down. They were unable to call for verification before my appointment. But they showed up when they said, got right to work and had my water flowing again in half an hour! They were very professional and reasonably priced! I will never call anyone else for my plumbing needs again.”

“I hired Alternative Plumbing Solutions in mid-November 2018 after discussing my issues with the business owner, Phillip Rhoades. I obtained an older home in Houston and the city required a gas inspection before service could be restored. However, once the invoice was paid, it was almost impossible to get Mr. Rhoades to return my calls. Over the course of four months, we had four inspections and each inspection failed for reasons related to Mr. Rhoades incompetence. According to the inspection report, the first inspection failed because the pressure gauge Mr. Rhoades installed on gas line was not calibrated and because the city required a plumbing permit in addition to the gas permit. The second, third and fourth inspections failed because Mr. Rhoades did not obtain the additional plumbing permits cited in the first inspection. Why even call in the subsequent inspections if you fail to resolve the issues from the first inspection? When I managed to actually get Mr. Rhoades on the phone, he gave me an excuse after excuse. “Re-piped home - Late on job, lied on schedule, stopped returning calls Phillip the owner was on time when he first sold the job - he had worked on the home before we purchased. He did about 80% of the work and was to be done Tues before we moved in. However he stopped showing up 3 days before the job was done. This meant we wouldn't have time to finish drywall patching before moving our 2 young kids. He said he had other jobs to do and when I told him we had W/D deliver Wed he came late Tues and got the water on. But did not finish or flush the toilets throughout the house he had used. He told us he finished the job Thurs and wanted his money. He had not finished or showed up again and we were moving in Fri- I had to go and clean for 3 hours, including some disgusting smelling toilets and move two water heaters he had just left in our kitchen. He said he would come out Fri between 12 - 2 - he didn't show up and kept saying he would be there shortly. He said he would come Sat at 8, texted after 8 and said he was leaving (supposedly an hr away, ) He showed up midday, finished. I found out from neighbors he got in a disagreement with one for working late and using her water ”

It seems the water connections were not tight and it was leaking on the new heaters. Scheduled an appointment and they did not show, scheduled it again and they did not show. “BEWARE-We called them after the historic winter storm due to a busted pipe. I spoke to the owner Phillip and they came out to my home and said they made a repair and to wait 5-6 hours before turning the water back on (which was really odd and later found it only takes around 30 minutes) but when we waited and turned the water back on, the same leak and location was still busted and leaking water out of the walls and ceiling. I called the owner Phillip numerous times and sent texts. His voicemail is full and his reads are on text-my messages were all read and no response. They stole hundreds of dollars from us during a crisis and left my family without water for many days. I would NEVER use Phillip and his company Alternative Plumbing Solutions, inc ever again. A company that takes advantage of a family during a pandemic and historic winter storm and steals money is disgraceful on all accounts! Please beware and protect your family and your money!”

“Contacted Philip on 7/24/2023 to perform a gas line pressure test on one of my apartments. Paid him in full on 7/25/2023. Plumber put in gauge on 7/27/2023. Inspector came out on 7/31/2023 and failed it because it did not have a tag and because of a "low test". Since then, rather than making the corrections and rescheduling the inspection, Philip has either not answered the phone and texts, said he would reschedule but not follow through, or given excuses like 1) he's overbooked, 2) he woke up with a fever, 3) etc. Today is 8/10/2023 and I've had to hire another plumber to do the job. I told him that I had people, that I did not want to lose, waiting to move into the apartment. He clearly did not care because he had been paid in full and did not care about my issues. I had stopped using them for awhile because they could not keep appointments but decided to give them another chance. After this, they've lost my business forever.”

Sounded to good to be true, well, it did not take long to figure out it was to good to be true. I even warned him on day one that I would be giving him a review on Home Advisor. Well, he should have trusted me. HERE IT IS, the TRUTH about this business. 1) The verbal bid price went up when the written bid was finally emailed. When the $ difference was discussed he was so sorry "I" the female, misunderstood but that is what it was. And the bid was 3 days late from date promised. 2) On day his Tech was to arrive, so many issues. He needed us to do more demo (that was not really needed and would add huge cost to us to have repaired), this would delay his coming out, to give us time to demo more, only to find out the delay was NOT because we had not demoed correctly, but because he had a leak at his own home, he and his tech that was supposed to do the work at our house, needed to get that done first, then they would BOTH come out and knock the job out quickly. “Horrible service. I was told the job was complete and I paid in full. I have a repiped house that has no insulation on pipes and no support. I also have a yard full of trenches they were never back filled. I was told the job would be done in two days that was dragged out to two weeks. Now three weeks later nothing has been back filled. I’ll be hiring someone to finish it and taking this company to small claims court to recoup the loss. Don’t use this company owner is dishonest and gives the run around.”
