Pool Service Pro · Richmond, TX
About
Precision Pools & Spas runs pool construction and service work from their base in Richmond, Texas. They focus on new inground pool builds, renovations to existing setups, fiberglass installations, water features, fire features, outdoor kitchens, patio covers and equipment upgrades. Their listed services cover the Houston area and nearby spots, with contact details pointing to a Richmond address on McCrary Road. Sales staff such as Scott handle initial designs, while project leads like David and Tracy manage on-site work and scheduling.
Homeowners describe new pool builds that sometimes finish with solid coping and Hayward equipment in place. Scott often gets credit for layout ideas, and crews led by David handle inspections during construction. Some projects run into leaks at waterfalls that require repeated service visits without full resolution. Others mention drainage shortfalls behind retaining walls on sunken outdoor kitchens, raising worries about future water issues. Renovation jobs draw praise when sales contact Coleman Johnson stays straightforward on needs and costs.
Work patterns show mixed response times, with Tracy quick to return calls and provide updates while office staff like Janice or Norma draw complaints for slow replies on texts and emails. Builds can stretch past initial estimates, with one taking 14 weeks from dig to water fill and others running longer amid weather or crew gaps. Pricing gets noted as competitive when upgrades come included, and the service reaches into areas like San Marcos. Warranty follow-up starts responsive in some cases but fades when repeated requests go unanswered.
They carry a Google rating of 4 from 217 reviews. Feedback often circles back to strong sales designs and finished pools alongside delays in communication and fixes. DIRT Score 3.7 from reviews on Finds.

“DO NOT RECOMMEND We hired Precision Pools in December 2025 to build a pool and sunken outdoor kitchen. Unfortunately, the project has been one of the most frustrating experiences we've had as homeowners. The most concerning issue involves the construction of the below-grade sunken kitchen. Multiple independent pool professionals who reviewed the project expressed concerns that proper drainage measures were not installed behind the retaining walls. To date, I still do not have confidence that the underlying drainage concerns have been adequately addressed, and I remain concerned about the potential for future water intrusion and long-term structural issues. Project management and communication have also been disappointing. I repeatedly requested written plans outlining how issues would be corrected and asked that a Precision Pools representative be present to supervise work being performed. Instead, subcontractors often worked without supervision, leaving me to monitor progress, identify concerns, and coordinate with crews myself. I felt like I became the project manager for a project I was paying someone else to manage. There were also several avoidable issues throughout constr”
“They built my pool 1 year ago. Scott did an awesome job at sales. Detail work not the best but for the price it does a good job. The people they did the coping around the pool did a good job however they cannot fix the leak in the water fall. They have been out 2 times and now still having issue. Warranty department was good in beginning but having issues with them returning text and emails back. Pool is about 91 ft with no hot tub”
“The best pool renovation sales experience ever! Coleman Johnson was knowledgeable, efficient, and most of importantly - honest! No matter what your pool needs this should be your go-to company.”
“After researching a handful of pool companies, we decided to select Precision Pools. We were impressed with the sales process, cost and pool design. As it pertains to the construction process, we have not been disappointed. The scheduling team, led by Tracy, was excellent and provided frequent updates; Norma, back-office, is diligent and professional; the construction supervisor, David, is always accommodating. My wife and I are very happy with the final product.”
“Working with Precision Pools & Spas for our very first swimming pool build was FANTASTIC!! We spoke to at least 6 other builders including PP&S before making our final decision. One of the main reasons we worked with them was because of Todd Lakes "The Pool Guy". Our fear was once we signed the contract we are on our own. Todd was with us the entire project and was very responsive. We signed our contract 3 days before Christmas right before he went on vacation and guess what - he was responding to us during vacation too! We appreciated his patience and involvement in our project and frankly made us feel as comfortable as you can feel in the midst of such a huge project/investment in our family. The entire staff was hands on with our pool project. The GM Michael Vadagna made a few visits to our site often to make sure everyone was doing a good job. Tracy - schedules everything and was also amazing to work with, she's the one who makes sure the crews showed up. Norma helped us at the design center and was also a pleasure to work with. Joe - our construction manager provided guidance on how to operate our pool and made sure things were fixed when they needed it towards the end of our”
“I contacted Michael with Precision Pools to build a pool at my home in San Marcos, and the entire experience has been outstanding from start to finish. I can’t thank Michael enough for his professionalism, communication, and attention to detail throughout the entire process. From the very beginning, he took the time to truly understand the design I wanted and walked me through everything step by step. He answered every question I had and made sure I felt confident about each stage of the project. That level of communication and transparency made a huge difference. Michael and his team are truly great to work with. Not only was the initial experience excellent, but the build process itself was smooth and well managed. The final result exceeded my expectations—the design, craftsmanship, and overall quality of the pool are incredible. What impressed me even more is that although Michael and his company are based in Houston, he was willing to travel out to San Marcos and still showed the same level of care and dedication as if the project were right in his own backyard. That speaks volumes about his commitment to his clients. After speaking with and getting quotes from other pool b”
“***EDITED AND UPDATED*** Well, where to start? Maybe I should start off by saying this is the second pool installed by Precision for our family and we have had two completely different experiences. The first pool held true to the timeline despite Hurricane Harvey. Now, this second pool is far from even remotely being acceptable from a customer service perspective, timeline, and a pure communication perspective. We are very understanding people but expect communication and when we asked Precision for some sort of update and better communication, nothing truly happened and we felt like we were just told lies and more lies to placate and pacify us. The COVID situation has completely changed our world, this we understand, but communication and customer service do not stop. We started this process in June of 2020 and the pool was completed in March 2021. We had set back after setback from the start and what was eve more interesting is that our neighbors were getting pools dug and completed in 2-3 months where ours took 10 months. Again, COVID and weather have played a huge role in this epic debacle. Just for reference, we stared at the huge hole from October 2020 until February 2021,”
“Precision pool team is very knowledgeable and delivered a great quality swimming pool. We had a few issues with the design as the salesperson (Scott) didn't add a retainer wall on the original design/price, but adding that was still a competitive price compared to the alternatives. All equipment used is Hayward. The installation was perfect; the plumber and electrician were very knowledgeable about the pool. David is the on-site project manager; he does a great job inspecting the pool and answering. Janice is slow to reply to emails or phone calls; the best way to reach her is via text. It took about 14 weeks to water in the pool from the excavation day. (We had about two weeks of weather delay). The Precision Pool includes a basic pressure pool cleaner with the project. I decided to go with a robotic pool cleaner, and they got a good quote for a Hayward one, but I wanted another brand, so they removed that item from my quote. We had some modifications after the design was complete, and David was very diligent in helping us. Although, some of those after the contract modifications were pricey for the job performed.”
“Horrible communication, the beginning work with Scott was pretty smooth , ever since we have had to hound them over and over again, I would not recommend them , very disappointing. Update 12-12-20 The dig was nine weeks ago, we are more than 50 percent done, I am being optimistic that by mid January we may be done, they come and work once or twice a week on a good week, have not had many of those. Communication has been a bit better , I was told once gunite was done that the rest of the contractors were ready to go. I guess I should be thankful we are slowly moving along”
“STAY AWAY!!!! We had our pool built in 2021. It took 8 months and now it's been almost 3 years. lights stopped working after about a year. Pool decking and tile is coming off. Cheap travertine materials with holes and filled with something. Customer service was horrible. They stopped returning my phone calls because i kept asking about the delays. They completely tore up my yard and I had a swamp with mosquitos for months. They don't handle their warranty calls. I left a message for Norma just this week and no return phone call. You get what you pay for. If you want quality work, don't use this company. Sad thing is, I chose them because they are friends with my colleague.”
“After meeting with the pool designer Scott, we knew we wanted to build our pool with Precision Pools. Scott's design was exactly what we wanted. From the start the process was quick and relatively painless (the biggest hiccup we had was with HOA, and was not the fault of the pool company.) All of the trades were very good at their crafts and there were only minor corrections that needed to be remedied. Tracy (construction manager) was great and always answered her phone and could either provide me with an answer immediately or find the answer and get back to me without delay. When we picked out our finishes Norma was a huge help and very friendly and easy to work with. Our experience with Precision Pools was great and we love the pool. We will definitely reccomend them, and if we ever find ourselves needing to build again will be using Precision Pools without hesitation.”
“Precision Pools built my pool 3 yrs this past year ago, and I had my color pool light go out, so I called Norma at the warranty department she was able to rush my service call so that I could get it replaced under warranty . I love my pool Satisfied with the process and great full for the warranty service provided”
“Where do I begin. In seeing others posts, I realize I am not alone. I was so excited when i started my pool hunt June 6th of this year. Like others, I had read poor reviews but you're always gonna have plenty of negative and often never hear from the positive. In interviewing several pool companies I went with Precision since my designer seemed to know exactly what i wanted and envisioned and others did not. I also know every pool company will have their share of negative reviews. But what I cannot stand more than anything is being lied to and ignored. I was told 6 to 9 weeks upon inquiry for pool build by my designer Scott in June 2020. Then 9 to 12 weeks, okay I can live with that, now months later and I finally get a hole dug on October 6, 2020. It has been 8 weeks since dig and pool is caving in as I type this, and no answer once again at the office. I know I'm not alone on the office not answering the phone as well. I am livid at this point. Furious that I am not going to have a pool by this pool company any time soon. I was told 6 to 8 weeks from dig to gunite and when I called at 6 weeks a couple weeks ago asking if there is a gunite date yet, I was told could b”
“I couldn’t be happier with my experience with Precision pools. From start to finish, the entire project was handled with professionalism, creativity, and true attention to detail. A huge thank-you to Christian and William for the incredible design work. They took my ideas, elevated them, and created a layout that was even more beautiful and functional than I imagined. Their vision completely transformed my backyard into a space I now genuinely love spending time in. And an equally big thank-you to Michael, who made the whole process smooth and stress-free. His organization, communication, and steady management ensured everything stayed on track and turned out perfectly. I highly recommend Precision Pools to anyone looking to elevate their outdoor space—you’ll be in great hands!”
“I created my pool design and received quotes from 4 different builders. ($67k, $58k, $53k and $44k) Precision was the least expensive with most "upgrades" included. They finished on schedule and my pool is amazing. I let a friend use my design and they spent $18k more on their pool. My pool and backyard are the talk of the neighborhood and I highly recommend Precision Pools & Spas for your investment.”
“Dug my pool way longer than having a scheduled plumbing, rebar or gunite day. It's been 5 weeks since they dug my backyard. I heard from another friend that they dug this other customer's pool FIVE MONTHS AGO!!! No dates for them either. DON'T LET THEM DIG UNTIL U HAVE A GUNTITE DATE!!! Update 12/2/2020 Gunite was done 2 months ago so that's no longer the blame for the delay, plumber came out and dug trenches in my yard and now keeps making excuses not to return so I can get my yard back. In the meantime my dogs are being boarded cause they can't access the backyard which is costing me money daily. Apparently they only have 1 plumber, so much for a 35 day build There were weeks of nice and dry days prior to this one so that's no longer an excuse. I ended up having to physically dig out and reroute my own sewer pipe”
“Breath taking job on our outdoor oasis. We love our pool. The workers were reliable and the end job is beautiful. Also, when I have a question, they are eager to help. I recommend precision pools to everyone”
“DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Contracted at 2 Months for work, but took 7 months. Had to get with Legal Council and stopped work, until upper management (Office and field) would do the agreed upon tasks they had backed out on last minute, that was previously agreed upon. Do not accept anything from them unless in writing! They will refuse to put it in written even when asked directly in written, just will ghost you when asked or repsond to something else and never acknowledged it in writing. But will agree verbally or in person regularly, then back out at time to do the work weeks or months later. Happened regular during this job! Used Car Salesman Tacks by management!! Respond every few days or week later even when following up on things often. Wrong stone installed, put breakers back forgetting to wire back into electrical panel resulting no power for couple days, forgot to glue PVC piping underground and questioned if did with a response it was done but dug up to check finding was not done resulting in entire yard being dug back out to redo all underground piping! You will need to have inspectors hired for each stage to find all their errors!DO NOT USE COMPANY! POOR Quality!! ”
“I am having a very hard time getting things scheduled, a very non professional behavior and attitude. You txt them and you either get no response or a very delayed one. Please try someone else if you have another choice.”
“I highly recommend Precision Pools and Spa. I chose them because I personally know three families that had their pool done by them. The process was great overall. As with any construction project, there will be bumps along the way. However, they went above and beyond to ensure I was happy with my project. Each of my concerns were addressed to my satisfaction. Even the owner Michael came to see my pool construction and hear out my concerns. Scott Shaw was my sales representative and has a vast knowledge on design and function. I’m glad I listened to his advice on design…now that my pool is done. He is also a very kind human being which I’ve known for a couple of years. If you decide to use PPS, request Scott S. and tell him I sent you. Johnathan was my construction manager and he did a wonderful job. You can tell he is passionate about his job and enjoys working with the customer. Janice was my scheduler. She was so kind and very quick to respond with my questions. She actually helped me even when she was out sick with the flu. If I build another pool, I will go back with precision. Thanks to the team for a great project!”
