Freedom Power
Solar Installer · Schertz, TX
About
Freedom Power runs a solar operation out of Schertz, Texas, and handles solar panel work along with battery backup, generators, and HVAC repairs and installs for homes across Texas and Florida. The business lists thirty thousand homes served and over twenty eight thousand systems put in, with additional categories covering electric vehicle charging stations, energy equipment, electric generators, and solar panel maintenance. Their website shows they cover both states and offer free consultations for these services.
Homeowners describe solar panel installs on houses around two thousand square feet where air conditioning runs heavy, along with battery and generator setups to handle outages. Some report panels that stopped producing power after storms or within the first year, while others note fixes by crews like Leo and Joshua who handled rail mounts and sealing on time. HVAC jobs get mentions too, with techs such as Ricky Martinez sorting out air conditioner problems and Blake Penry keeping paperwork light during installs. Consultants like Shane Hertig and Jose Ochoa walk through system choices and financing details before work starts.
Jobs cover Texas and Florida metro areas with install crews arriving early and finishing the mounting and connections in a day or two. Response times vary, with some customers getting quick callbacks from names like Sydney on applications while others wait two weeks just to reach scheduling and then another thirty to forty five days for a service visit. Pricing details show up in reviews around dispatch fees and warranty questions, and communication often requires multiple calls or emails to track progress on inspections or repairs.
Google lists a four point four rating though with no reviews attached to the profile. The provided customer feedback splits between praise for smooth installs and specific workers like Ricky Martinez, Shane Hertig, and Renee Rose, and complaints about panels left offline for months, warranty disputes, and slow service scheduling.

What Customers Say
“Freedom Solar saved me $$$$ on our 20 Solar Panel Installation. I shopped around for 20 Solar Panels from 3-5 Solar Companies. I wanted to "Zero Out",our Perdenales Electric Bill. Besides,6-8 months,an Electric Bill at $3-500 each month,we can pay off the Solar in 10-15 years!!! We have a 2350 Sq. Ft. Home. Air Conditioner is our "energy hog." We have an Electric Dryer also. Without Solar,$350-500,a thermostat set @ 78 degrees, around the clock. We had Leo and Joshua the Solar Panel Installers. The "Dynamic Duo" showed up on time, early in the morning. They proceeded to get out their Solar Plans, measure for the rail mounts system, drill, and install mounting brackets, rails, seal, etc. It was a tad bit windy the install day,and it is NOT an easy task walking up a ladder, loaded down with a Solar Panel. Leo,Joshua were young, strong, gifted, intelligent, "All-Pros!" Mounts,Rails,Wiring,Solar Panels,Electric Pipe all in. "The Dynamic Duo" were finished with their portion of the job. The Freedom Solar Electrician was to set the Solar Electric Panel, finish running wire and pipe from Solar panels to new panel. And tie into existing 200 Amp Panel. From start to finish, getting HOA ,City,Perdenales p”
“Had a great experience 3yrs ago with installation and cost. Working great until storm nocked it out. CPS cannot communicate with the meter. Service will take 30 to 60 days ( hopefully insurance). Or I could get a qualified electrician and get 2 months generation. Don’t know.”
“A third of the solar panels that Freedom Power installed in the last year aren't working. I called them to fix the issue. It has now been two weeks since I called them about the issue and the service lady told me today that it would be 30-45 days before someone from scheduling contacts me to get someone on the schedule to fix the problem. Why is it taking multiple months to even send someone out?”
“UPDATE: We are five years with the system. First problem. Now the real test on customer service. Charged $350 for "Dispatch Fee". You know its all in the details of the paperwork you don't read when you do all the signing at purchase. Anyway, I paid the fee as I already was shipped the microinverter from Enphase under warranty. Turns out the initial microinverter that was not producing was never connection/registered properly. Really long story, but to keep it short, I am just asking for the dispatch fee back as I feel the system was not 100% at installation. This should be covered under their "Workmanship Warranty" It has been almost 5 years. That is the reason I say this is a good test on how companies take care of their customers. IT'S REALLY THE AFTER THE SALE CUTOMER SERVICE THAT MATTERS. I will update you after out come. Freedom Solar just completed our panel installation. Christopher Snyder was extremely professional and thoroughly explained the benefits of going solar and entire install process. Every member of Freedom Solar that I had contact with were truly professional and went above and beyond to make sure the entire process went smoothly. I highly recommend Freedom So”
“I had a great experience working with Freedom Solar Power San Antonio. The team was professional, knowledgeable, and very transparent throughout the entire process. They took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure all my questions were answered without any pressure. I especially want to give a shout-out to Ricky Martinez as he was responsive, easy to work with, and genuinely cared about making sure everything went smoothly. It’s clear he takes pride in his work and in providing great customer service. If you’re considering going solar, I highly recommend Freedom Solar Power. Solid company with a great team behind them.”
“Consultant Shane Hertig was top notch in dealing with my concerns and follow up to make sure my home Solar System virtual purchase experience was a success. Shane really convinced me to finally take the plunge I had been contemplating. Thank you Shane.”
“I had my solar panels installed in December and have yet to have them inspected and turned on. What exactly is the point in having panels installed if I can't use them? We've left countless voicemail and nothing has happened yet. It's like they don't exist. Which basically is now the issue. They just don't exist.”
“As a home new home mower we always try to find opportunities to enhance our finances and our assets. There are tons of solar companies but there are also a lot of scams. I was related to Sunpower when I was in living in California so I wanted an affiliate that I could trust. When I contacted them I told them that I already knew all the benefits, rewards and to save the sales portion to go directly to the numbers. Shane understood and was able to explain it very clearly. We have to distinguish between Freedom Solar and GoodLeap. They work together but are not the same. Something that they can improve is the communication area. I had to call and email several times to get a status on the project. Jessica Zuniga was another agent that helped me to clarify doubts along the way and updates. Overall I am happy with my system and will consider them to future projects.”
“Had bad experience with freedom power. Their installation cause breaker issues and instead of fixing it they void my warranty. Felt like they avoid responsibility at every step .not recommended base on my experience. Pls never buy and take service form this company.”
“Great experience! The installation went smooth, and Blake Penry was able to make the whole process easy, I barely saw any paperwork. Their product is one of the best. And Blake is not your typical salesman. He sees it through. Sydney was also quite resourceful helping with the applications!”
“We has a great experience with Ricky Martinez! Quick to respond the job he did on our HVAC was done it the best way, he has gone above and beyond and really recommend him!”
“This was by far the best experience I've had with a contractor. My energy consultant Nathan told me that the hardest part was deciding to go solar, and that once I'd made that decision, they'd handle the rest. I took that with a grain of salt, but they were absolutely correct. Going solar is a no brainer.. who to go with is more complicated, and I researched and interviewed eight companies. It came down to two, and I went with Freedom because they are local, built to last and I believed they'd provide the best all around service. I mean, if they can install for companies like Whole Foods and UT, and still work to earn my business.. I'll give it to them! We feel great about our choice. These people are a class act. Our energy consultant was informative, honest, and engaged throughout the process. Our site assessor Regan was a joy to have here and learn from. Our project manager Ryan kept us informed and up to date on the project, even emailing each day through three days of rain that set us back from the original install date. They were ready to roll the moment the rain cleared up though, and the installation took ONE DAY. I left for work and they were finishing up when I came back ”
“I want to Say that Jose Ochoa, our Sales Rep is phenomenal, goes Above and Beyond to make sure we were Happy with our Investment and purchase of the solar panel system. He was Honest, Straight Forward, and answered all of our questions. Jose did not come across as one of those High Pressure Salesman, which I will not tolerate and have no problem telling them this meeting is over if it comes to that. He had great patience, did not come across like were wasting his time or ours, Jose has 5 Star Talent. We had a couple of issues that came up as we got closer to install day. I made my phone calls to him, told him about my issues. He told me he would get right on it and that He would call me back by a specific time, And he did. We are already getting asked about the panels and about the company from our neighbors and friends so we will be recommending Jose Ochoa to all of them. I hope all of Freedom Solar Reps are as informative, professional and as reliable as he is. It is because of Jose that we chose Freedom Solar. Thank you Jose! John Rodriguez & Lety Greene PS: The roof is to tall to see the top but there is a total of 26 panels on the roof. They were installed astheticaly p”
“Man what an experience. I wouldn’t have gotten into 33k in debt if these features I was sold on switched to a monthly subscription. I had my panels installed back in October 2024. There was an app that had features like checking the health and performance of my panels. Fast forward present day they changed it to a monthly paid subscription. For the last 3ish days I’ve been getting the run around from Freedom Solar Customer Support and Dividend Finance. Both customer support suck and are terrible. I am someone who likes to do my due diligence, asks all the right questions, and just make sure I’m getting a good deal plus all the benefits with this kind of investment. Well now it’s a complete 180. They only respond in a timely manner and treat you well to get that sale, after that you’re done for.”
“I was very pleased with Ricky Martinez he came out and explained everything and he fixed my ac unit I highly recommend him.”
“This is an awesome and very professional company from start to finish. I had considered other companies but went with Freedom Solar because of the professional, detailed and impressive presentation by Tony Contreras who is a great guy. In fact, I now consider him a friend. I also got the highest efficiency panels (22%) which is the highest in the industry and the only manufacture that makes them! I extremely happy with Freedom Solar. I highly recommend them!!!”
“Our experience with Ricky was superb! He was efficient and very detailed oriented. He did a fantastic job at explaining each problem he noticed along with taking pictures so we had a better understanding of what was going on. Our concern was clearly addressed and resolved thanks to Ricky’s expertise!”
“I wanted to share my very positive experience working with Renee Rose during my recent purchase of Solar Freedom panels. Throughout the entire process, I found Renee to be knowledgeable, patient, and always responsive to my needs. Renee’s understanding of solar technology, the various financing options, and the available incentives was truly impressive. They took the time to clearly explain the different system choices and expertly guided me to select the best solution tailored to my specific requirements. I really appreciated that they were able to thoroughly answer all of my questions, no matter how detailed, which gave me a great deal of confidence in my final decision. I am already seeing fantastic results, with an 80% reduction in my electric bill! My last bill was only $12. It's amazing to think I'm now investing in my own electricity production and gaining independence from traditional power companies – it truly feels like freedom.”
“We have had a very pleasant experience working with Renee Rose as our consultant working with Freedom Solar. I give her 5-stars but communications with Freedom Solar I can only go 4-stars, or maybe less. We have the solar panels installed on our roof and Bandera Electric has given their final approval and completed their end of the work. Freedom has a website to view the status of our installation but it rarely seems to be up to date. A better solution would be to maintain timely updates and provide an explanation of the next step in the process with a best-guess date for completion. Overall, a nice experience.”
“Recently had my solar system designed and installed with Freedom Solar Power. I would 100% use them again. I was pretty solar naive in the beginning but they were very patient with me during the learning process. Across the board they were quick to respond to my calls and emails. I particularly appreciated Shane Hertig's expertise with solar systems and his help with the installation process. So glad I purchased this system. I would encourage anyone who is solar curious to call Shane. Act fast before the tax credit vanishes.”
