About

EnergySage runs a solar comparison service out of Summerville, AK. Homeowners use the platform to shop for home solar panels, home batteries, and whole home electrification work. The site pulls in offers from installers on financing, incentives, and equipment like inverters and panels. Callers reach them at the listed number for help narrowing options.

Customers describe posting their project details and receiving several bids from local companies within days. Advisors such as Jessica walk through the offers, explain differences in equipment and rebates, and shield users from constant sales calls. Some end up with systems that produce power and deliver bill credits after a couple months, while others run into installers that miss deadlines, fail inspections, or stop responding on warranties.

The process centers on an online site where specs go up once and quotes come back for side by side review. Reviewers note quick access to four or more proposals, phone talks with advisors on technical points, and the ability to check company ratings before signing. Service reaches areas where the listed installers operate, with no set hours mentioned beyond standard phone availability.

Google shows 4.8 from 1033 reviews, with repeated notes on the quote tools and advisor input alongside complaints that some recommended installers delivered poor results or no follow up. DIRT Score 4.7 from reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say

“Excellent customer service and an easy-to-use platform. The guidance we got from Jessica made it simple to evaluate offers and choose the best provider for our needs. We've had our new system for about two months now and couldn't be happier with the process. And we just got our first electric bill credit! We're really enjoying the benefits of going solar.”

“When choosing a solar company for my home I used Energysage to compare and review various solar companies and the prices they offered. I selected 'Cosmo Solaris' on the basis of customer reviews on "Energysage" website. Everything went on without much problem until installation. However, one year after installation I faced severe system production problem due to system failure. And it turned out "Cosmosolaris" is an absolute fraud company. Their 30 year warranty is completely meaningless as no one can reach them on phone. You send email after emails and they won't do anything. So all the reviews on "Energysage" are bogus reviews and this must get a lowest star rating!”

Saurabh Gayen

“UPDATE: I followed the below instructions from Energy Sage and have received no response from them at all. Worse than useless service. Just posting to appear helpful but not doing anything for their customers. Terrible experience going with a solar installer provided/vetted by EnergySage. Completely useless service that caused me to hire an installer (PlugPV /Palmetto Solar that failed numerous inspections and deadlines. Now the system produces nowhere near estimated power amounts.”

Dan Flannery

“EnergySage made getting multiple quotes so easy. The pricing is not asa difficult as it seems in the beginning of your search, and EnergySage allows you to easily compare multiple quotes side by side. The biggest things for me was the reviews of each individual company and their installers. Big investment to let just anyone install it. I will review my choice of solar companies and installation separately. Thanks to the developers of EnergySage. - Gary L.”

“EnergySage offers a variety of valuable services: 1. It provides a forum from which to solicit solar installation quotes from a group of vetted installers in your area. 2. It offers technical advice, both online and via telephone, on the multiple aspects of acquiring a solar installation. 3. It shields you from direct contact from the vendors, so you don’t get a deluge of emails and phone calls. You do have the option to deal with the vendors if you desire. 4. I quickly received four quotes and was able to compare them using the EnergySage site. 5. I was able to discuss the quotes with my assigned EnergySage advisor which helped me select the best offer. I now have scheduled installation by the solar contractor which offered the best equipment at a very satisfactory price.”

“Did some research, Gathered quotes, and selected a contractor. Signed a contract in June. Roof done, electrical upgrade done, Solar installed. End of November and still not connected to the grid or functional. Simply put, a disaster. Fighting to get connected. Finally connected to the grid January 1, after filing a complaint with RI PUC. Dealing with RI Energy Solar Dept was very difficult. It was if they did not want solar installations in RI. Our contractor was awesome, but RI Energy was simply awful to deal with.”

Steve Banahan

“By using SolarSage, we were able to avoid all of the fly by night companies out there who pray on people who are unaware of the solar installation process. They screen all companies, allowing only the reputable ones to bid on your project. Once I got my 10-11 bids, SolarSage was there to provide expert advice to explain the differences in solar equipment and the installation process. They also provided info on which companies were providing rebates on their panels. I just got my $250 rebate! Very happy with the entire process. If you are thinking of going solar, use SolarSage and you won't regret it”

Daniel Smith

“Sorting out the fact amid confusing claims presented by various solar contractors is probably the biggest reason most homeowners are shy about installing an array for their house. Energy Sage provided me the tools to make a thoughtful decision without personal bias. After connecting me with vetted providers and helping solicit proposals, they confirmed the decision I had made. I've now completed the installation and am also happy with the selected company.”

Robert Stuber

“Before finding EnergySage, I really didn't know where to start. I was writing down numbers on the sides of solar installation vans I saw, asking local friends, calling my friends in the solar industry across the country in California. All 3 of my friends in the solar industry separately suggested that I look into EnergySage. Putting up your job specs was super easy, and within a few days, I had 3 quotes from local companies. I took a few calls with the providers and had a solar company within a week. Once you select a company, they'll typically walk you through everything, and plan your installation with your feedback. I think the hardest part is really knowing where to start, and EnergySage takes the guesswork out of that process. Once the ball is rolling, it's all positive. Now my electric car runs on sunshine, I have zero energy bill, and I'm getting back a monthly check from the state for our production. Between savings and subsidies, I save/make roughly $5K per year!”

“Energy Sage is a fantastic benefit to anyone considering solar energy or electric vehicles. After providing quotes from 3 pre-qualified providers they reviewed options with me to help me find the best fit. Their review of alternative components for solar energy -- rails, panels, microinverters, etc. -- allowed me to choose the best options, and their tutorials were very informative. The provider I chose, Strawberry Solar, exceeded all expectations. Every aspect of the company and every employee operates very professionally and treated us with respect. The quality of their work was as good or better than any contractor who has worked in our home, and they delivered more than they promised. From the ownership and management down through each employee they appear to be doing the work they love and believe in. I ask many questions, with follow up questions, and they patiently answered it all, then delivered what they said.”

Bill Frysinger

“EnergySage was great, I was able to get several local contactors to bid on my system. It was easy to compare materials, labor and financing all on one website. There was plenty of information and links to easily learn about the different hardware components of a solar grid-tied system. Also the website made it easy to communicate with contractors, ask questions and get answers.”

Gary Firmin

“I had an awful experience with Energy Sage. They recommended a solar installer (whom I had not heard of) but they assured me it was among their highest rated. I went with the installer ONLY because ES was so strong in their recommendation. Installer went bankrupt. Energy Sage promised me they would help me get my rooftop solar project finished. All words. No actions. I had to do all research how to get permited, etc and project turned on. 17 months from start of project I finally have a finished solar project. I'd give 0 stars if possible”

Tom Prusa

“If I could give zero stars, I would. They called me after my solar install with a very rude pressured sales call trying to scare me into getting batteries for my home. Telling me hurricanes could knock my power out- I live in Colorado. I’m just speechless”

William Reding

“You can get several competitive quotes, each one detailing what you be getting. You can correspond with each company to work out the specifics . Each company has info and reviews on the company and products. Also you need to google companies for more info and reviews. I used them and saved many dollars.”

WTH Harrison

“Energy Sage was very helpful informing me about solar, getting quotes, and helping me choose the installer that I used to install my solar panels. The process was clean and easy.”

Rich Wilkie

“Terrible service. Partnered with SolarLeasing who does not return calls and the system they sold us stopped working after 4months from when it was turned on. Nearly 5 mknths later and the system is not producing. Full electricity bill plus solar panel bill and a lein on a house. Great deal right?? No... Run...”

“It took over 2 years to find the right price, time, and installer; But our Energy Sage advisor was really helpful and patient with us. Got multiple quotes, shopped around, and settled on an installer that was really local to us. They had a long history, and decent reviews. When we got into contact with them, they were excellent in answering all our questions. We agreed on the contract, and installation went smoothly. Only issue was PG&E dragging everything out, so any and all fault is PG&E's. Powerwall is working, the app shows energy usage and generated. Very happy with them.”

“Great experience using EnergySage!!! The site helps you better understand the benefits of solar, installation process and helps identify and select a contractor. The independent review of different contractors was extremely valuable in helping me select my contractor. They provide a consultant to help in the entire process which was invaluable! My install was just completed on Friday and went very smoothly. The county completed the inspection today, which passed and now awaiting Pepco approval so that I can turn the system operational. I highly recommend EnergySage to anyone considering a solar install!!!”

Bruce Johnson

“I first joined Energy Sage to educate myself on future Solar plans. I filled out my profile and uploaded my power bill. I received quotes almost immediately, but wasn't in a position to pull the trigger yet. Months later, I had made the decision that I was going to go Solar for my house! I signed back in to Energy Sage, updated my profile a little and received 3 quotes! I was able to talk with the installer that piqued my interest as well as check out reviews from other Energy Sage members who had used my installer. I also checked out all the reviews for the hardware in my quotes as well as my financing options. I'm happy to say that my new Solar system will be installed very soon (most likely a few weeks as I'm just waiting on approvals). Using Energy Sage was easy, straight forward and critical for me having the knowledge about Solar to make an informed decision. I also would've never connected with my installer without Energy Sage. I highly recommend it!”

Blair Christopher

“I used EnergySage to get multiple quotes from reputable high quality installers in my area. The process was simple and painless. There was a lot of resources available to help and having all the quotes in one place with common assumptions was very helpful. After we received our quotes I was able to discuss them with an EnergySage advisor before directly contacting the installers to help me understand the quotes and be better informed. I am highly recommending using EnergySage to anyone who asks about my decision process for my solar installation.”
