I had a great conversation with the service manager Kyle, and he sent his to technicians Tyler Sasser and Dylan Watkins to diagnose and repair my system which was full of faults. My original installer went out of business and I've been struggling to find a reliable and reputable solar company to address my systems needs. “Ya must know that establishing and maintaining a complete solar energy system can be a complex endeavor. Our solar panels, solar battery, smart panel and EV home charger runs effortlessly 99% of the time. But every so often...and I didn't understand the glitch. Cape Fear Energy sent out the team of Noah, Ryland, with Travis providing back-up. It took 'em a while, but they discovered a cable to our converter was not behaving. “Absolutely outstanding! I requested an EV charger installation through the Duke Energy site, and within an hour I received a call from Cape Fear Energy Systems to discuss the project. They provided an online portal where I could upload all the photos and information they needed to complete the project. After I submitted that, they were quick to let me know that they had requested the required government permits, and were able to schedule my project. The two electricians that came out were very kind and professional and completed the job in a fraction of the time I was expecting it would take. Once completed, they made all the arrangements and coordinated for the post-installation inspection to be done. The inspector came out and said everything looked great. “I bought a solar system from what I believed was a reputable company. And the first couple of years were great. Then the company went out of business. I maintained the system pretty well by goggling appropriate home solutions to what were considered common issues. Then came the Tesla battery recall. What a nightmare. I was without a backup battery for almost two years. Needless to say I was a thorn in Teslas side with calls, emails and constant badgering for replacement scheduling. I had even researched local certified dealers and found Cape Fear to be highly recommended. So I was excited when Tesla told me they would be replacing my battery. And they did not disappoint. “I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with all the employees I dealt with. From the first conversation on the phone, to the salesman that came, to the installers, it was a 100% positive experience. The salesman was up front and honest about what he was presenting for my needs, no hidden fee's or surprise's. He gave me a time frame of approx. 3 months from signature to 100% producing electricity, (and even stated that is as long as the permitting and inspections go as expected) and I can say it was 3 days shy of the 3 months. The installers were friendly and knowledgeable about what they were doing, cleaned up well and made sure there were no issues. The other installers, (electrical and setup) were great, Listened to what I preferred the end result to look like (minimal wires exterior) and made sure before they got started that I knew what was going where. Then through the next few weeks / month, They followed up with everything making sure permits were submitted, completed and everything was going as scheduled. “We have been absolutely amazed at the level of customer service from Cape Fear Solar now known as Cape Fear Energy. From the beginning Dar, our sales rep, was very thorough, professional and covered all the bases before we even knew enough to ask questions. Once we researched a bit and spoke to friends that had solar and started asking questions (over several visits/calls) he answered every single one. One of those many questions was ‘when should we expect this to be installed’ – his response was 2-3 weeks but they began almost immediately. Zack did the site assessment to confirm what Dar quoted us was what we needed and it was all confirmed. Within a week or so Mason’s installation crew (Mason, Mike & Josh) showed up. “We have quite a complicated system with 2 electrical panels and a legacy solar panel array that produced 6.3KW peak power, but I needed to set up zero export to comply with my insurance. Cape fear sold me a dual battery (EnPhase 5p) with special EnPhase controllers. The salesperson and install teams were very nice, but the support team had the brunt of the challenge and worked tirelessly with the manufacturer to figure out the unique challenges for our environment. Hats off to Kyle and Travis for staying with this to get to the bottom of the issues. We have a utility with ‘peak usage’ pricing and now we barely use any utility power during the peak periods and stay within the (albeit strange) insurance requirements. Our insurance premium is much less than companies that allow exporting, so this works for us.”

“The staff from Cape Fear Energy Systems could not have done a better job. Although I was skeptical at first about their doing an estimate through pictures I took on my phone, they knew what they were doing and did an excellent job. They even matched the color of my siding with the conduit. By offering me th opportunity to purchase the charging unit from them I save a couple of weeks because th item was out of stock on Amazon and everywhere else I looked. The staff showed up early, asked a few questions and completed th job in a couple of hours. They gave me a quick tour of the IOS app and I wa ready to go. But best of all they do care of all the paperwork for the credit from Duke Energy and I got a great low price.
