Lumberjack Tree Service

Lumberjack Tree Service runs tree work out of Allen, TX under Derek. The crew handles trimming and pruning on oaks, maples and other large trees, full removals on dead or storm-hit trunks, stump grinding after cuts, hedge work, and planting or treating trees to keep them healthy. Derek leads the jobs himself and brings in the rest of the hands when bigger removals or cleanups come up.

Homeowners bring them in when storms split elms or drop heavy limbs onto roofs, fences and yards. Derek has pruned red oaks to pull deadwood and thin canopies so limbs stop threatening houses, taken down massive pecans that stretched over property lines, and cleared dead trees before they fell on fire pits or ironwork. The crew grinds stumps level, hauls every branch and log away, and leaves the ground raked so nothing is left behind.

They answer messages and calls the same day and often book next-day or even same-day service when a tree is at risk. Derek shows up on time or early, gives a quote on the spot, and keeps the crew moving without extra stops. Prices stay reasonable across the jobs, the men work as a team, and they finish with the site spotless and no marks on fences or neighbor yards. The service covers Dallas, Frisco, Murphy and nearby spots.

Reviewers keep noting the same points: fast arrivals after storms, careful handling of big trees, and crews that clean every scrap before they leave. Derek earns repeated mentions for listening to exactly what the owner wants and delivering it without shortcuts. DIRT Score 4.8 from 205 reviews on Finds.

“Derek did an outstanding job that exceeded my expectations. He professionally pruned one of my trees and safely removed two others with great attention to detail. The entire process was efficient, thorough, and completed to a very high standard. I highly recommend Derek to anyone looking for reliable and professional tree services.”

“Derek and his team did an amazing job on my giant red oak tree! He called me with a great quote and immediately started working and finished the same day. He cleaned up the deadwood at the top of the tree and took some weight off by thinning the canopy in the middle and ends. I can breathe a sigh of relief now that I don’t have to worry about the heavy limbs falling on my house during our Texas storms. I will definitely continue to use Lumberjack Tree Service to keep my tree healthy. I highly recommend Derek and his team!”

“Lumberjack Tree Service exceeded my expectations and will be my go to service provider in the future. Please take a few minutes to let me tell you why. My previous experience with other tree trimming companies is probably similar to yours. Normally they trim a few branches to get branches away from other structures, do some rudimentary shaping, take your money, and call it a day. Derek runs his business differently and the results speak for themselves. When Derek showed up to assess our needs and provide a quote I was immediately struck by his enthusiasm for trees and his desire to make them as beautiful and healthy as possible. He appreciates that each tree is unique and he considers airflow, canopy height and consistency, aesthetic form, and sound structure to promote healthy long-term growth when he's proposing work. After a walkthrough and discussion about what we needed and what was best for our trees, Derek provided a detailed proposal that was comprehensive and fairly priced with a very short turnaround time. Derek and his team delivered excellent results and showed great respect for our property while performing their work. Once the initial trimming pass was compl”

“This is the third home that I have used Lumberjack Tree Service on. They are extremely responsive to messages and phone calls. I was able to get next day service on a very large tree that was destroyed by storms before it fell on my fire pit and iron fence. And had it hauled away in one day. I highly recommend!”

“Derek and his crew arrived a head of schedule and removed our dead tree. They were very professional, careful and handled the job with ease. They made sure that the everything was cleaned up and put back before they left. What I liked the most is that they prayed before the job started and worked as a team. I highly recommend Lumberjack Tree Service.”

“Would like to send a heart full thanks to Mr. Derek Herbert and his company for doing a wonderful job on our tree removal. His team is professional and highly skilled and worked great as a team. We had a huge pecan three removed from our house that extended over a fence into the neighbors yard and they kept it clean and not any damages to the fence nor our neighbors property. They were efficient without any wasted movements! I would highly recommend this team to anyone looking to have a tree taken down. Very impressed with the work and highly satisfied!”

“We have used Lumberjack Tree service sereral times over the past 2 years and Derek and his crew have always provided excellent service! We first contacted Lumberjack Tree Servce after a major storm tore off a huge tree limb causing damage to our roof. We needed someone to come out to cut up the large branch so we could get the debris off the neighbors lawn and the sidewalk. We called Derek and he and his crew were out within a couple of hours. Keeping in mind this large storm caused similar and more major types of tree damage as it moved across the metroplex. The fact that Derek was able to come so quickly when his schedule was full was impressive! We then scheduled him to come out later in the week to trim both trees and they did a great job. The trees looked beautiful. During that visit he let us know our 27 year old Bradford Pear tree would eventually need to come out as it had splitting limbs etc. that potentially might become dangerous. We scheduled a tree removal which went very smoothly. I was a little nervous as I have never had a "giant" tree totally removed but Derek and crew were so professional and knowledgeable....taking great care to not cause any damage to the ”

“Derek and his crew are top notch! They were on time and all just wonderful people. We recently moved to a home with overgrown bushes, dead trees and healthy trees that needed pruning. The before and after pictures tell the story. You will be glad when you hire them to take care of your trees.”

“Derek and his crew helped give our trees new life. Our builder threw in whatever landscape to call it a day. We have managed to keep all the trees alive and continuing to grow over the past couple years. Thanks to Lumberjack they are now going to thrive and grow in the right way. Appreciate the knowledge and expertise that comes with this service.”

“20 years ago, I was a first time homeowner- living in Dallas with no clue on how to take care of the tree in my front yard. I reached to Derek and he made my tree and home look amazing. Fast Forward and I now live Frisco. I tried another tree trimming company and even attempted the work myself. However I could not replicate the aesthetic and service I had received from Lumberjack. I reached to Derek and he did not fail me. My Live Oaks were trimmed and shaped to not only enhance the tree but the facade of my home. My silver leaf maple was given the love it needed as well. I learned my lesson and will only call Derek and Lumberjack Tree Service.”

“We were out of town when our neighbor called and said our huge American Elm had spit in two and fallen in the back yard. When we returned, we got 4 bids from various tree people. Not only was Lumberjack Tree Service the lowest bid, but they showed up on time with a crew of 6. Everyone knew their job and were proficient at it. They took this enormous tree down in 6-1/2 hours. It had a circumference of 8’. They did a great job of cleanup. We couldn’t be more pleased with their work and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs tree service. They were great to work with.”
