“BEWARE – This was one of the worst contractor experiences I have ever had. I hired John and his company for a landscaping and hardscape project that was estimated to take approximately 5 days. Instead, the project stretched to nearly 3 weeks and remained incomplete. Payment Timeline Within the first 3 days of the project, John had collected approximately $9,000. By the time I terminated the relationship, he had received roughly $26,000 on a project totaling approximately $30,000. I refused to release additional funds until the work was completed and damages to my property were addressed. Theft One of the pics I post show his employee stealing $100 that we dropped in the driveway. We saw and heard it all on camera. Workmanship Issues Throughout the project, I encountered numerous problems, including: • Brodie trees that were not installed properly and later fell during the first storm. • Concrete work that contains more than a 1/2-inch depression, causing standing water. • Drainage lines that were installed improperly and do not drain as intended. • Damage to plants and trees during installation. • Damage to sprinkler heads, landscape lighting, fencing, and other portions of my”

I hired him for tile/paver work in my backyard, and I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the workmanship. The finished work was not completed to the standard we agreed upon, and several areas had to be corrected by another installer. I ended up having to bring in someone else to address the work and properly complete the project, which resulted in additional time, inconvenience, and expense. I have included photos so others can see the condition of the work for themselves. I gave John the opportunity to handle the project correctly, but ultimately I was left dealing with repairs and cleanup that should not have been necessary. Based on my personal experience, I would not hire him again.”

“DO NOT HIRE HIM!! We hired John after seeing the positive reviews he had on google, but did not read the negative ones on Facebook and Yelp and we went through a nightmare like many folks. Please take the time to read this and all the negative reviews before you hire him!! Do not be fooled by his promises when he initially does the consultation with you. His pricing is the same as other much larger professional companies we received quotes from, so you aren’t saving any money, and it will cost you MORE to get it fixed by someone else later on. If you read the reviews on Facebook and Yelp, he has done this with other people too and it’s a very consistent pattern. You will get a cheaper and shoddier job done than promised, more expenses later in the project than initially quoted, he will take shortcuts for improper installation, provide poor quality materials, and he won’t fix his mistakes no matter how much you ask him to. Once you pay him he won’t come back to finish anything or fix anything as promised, and he will ghost you- multiple clients of his have claimed to have a similar experience! John happily came out to my property 3 times to consult with me and my ever changing mind and once we settled on a game plan, they were out 2 days later and completed the project in a little over one day! “For anyone who may be looking I recently used Palos Landscaping and Construction for a backyard project. They showed up on time (something unusual these days), completed the entire project in time and in budget. While there they also planted a couple trees that were extra and even repaired an irrigation issue my previous provider failed to correct three separate times. His personnel were courteous and most importantly, they cleaned up after the project 100% as though they were never there. Right down to power washing on their way out. He performed two consultations to review what we wanted and even though we had an idea, he worked with us and was patient enough to make our visions a reality. His team came and knocked out the yard in a few days. They were very communicative with what was going on and let me know when each phase would be done. “I haven’t had to report a business to anywhere before but I am looking into it. I contracted Palos Landscaping to do a patio extension on a previous patio they installed. They were difficult to schedule with. They cancelled. They set a day and time to which they were late. They did not install base rock or compact the soil as listed in the contract. They did not round the edges or texture the top seamlessly as agreed. They have not provided receipts for any project. They left the yard in disarray. They kept us up until the middle of the night due to their late arrival and start. They collected a 50% deposit on an amount more than agreed in the contract, then collected the rest after they said they were finished, and then told us they could not do everything they said they could. When I tried to work this out with them they said it could not be done and then asked for more money to fix their mistakes that was originally included in what was already paid. If they could not provide service already paid for they could have issued a refund for services not rendered but they refused. I will have the patio fixed by other means since Palos Landscaping is not going to correct their mistakes”
