Home Roots Lawn & Landscape

Home Roots Lawn & Landscape runs as a small family owned outfit based in San Marcos, Texas. They take on lawn care and maintenance work along with landscaping design and installation. Tree trimming forms part of their services, as do Christmas light setups and flowerbed work. TC and Heather handle much of the day to day contact with customers according to the feedback.

Customers describe jobs that include backyard paver patios with weed barrier and crushed limestone, full backyard installations with design adjustments, walkways, fire pits, vegetable gardens, and sod areas for pets. Other projects cover flowerbed cleanups with weeding, hedge trimming, and mulching, plus rose garden setups and pecan tree trimming after storms. Reviewers note the crews finished these tasks in one or two days on several occasions and left the spaces looking cleaner and easier to keep up.

The business gets described as responsive with quick answers to questions and steady updates during jobs. Reviewers mention itemized quotes that landed cheaper than other bids, honest dealings on small issues, and crews that fit extra work into busy schedules when needed. Work stays focused on the San Marcos area with crews that arrive on time and wrap projects without dragging things out.

The listed reviews show mostly five star marks with one low score over pricing on a short job. Common points include clear communication from start to finish, crews that work efficiently, and results that match what was discussed upfront.

“Nothing but positive things to say about Home Roots Lawn & Landscaping! I have now used them for two backyard projects and I already have the next one lined up. They are honest, hardworking, and absolutely committed to excellence and customer satisfaction! From the office staff to the crew, I had the most pleasant experience all the way around. I love my backyard paver patio as an extension of my back porch, and I could not wait to remove the mulch that the builder laid in the backyard when I moved in! The weed barrier and crushed limestone add a much cleaner aesthetic to my backyard garden. Now I am officially ready for Fall planting! Thanks again to TC, Heather and the entire team at Home Roots!”

“Home Roots did our backyard installation just in time for spring this year. We couldn't be happier with how it turned out. The team is extremely communicative, very willing to mock up design changes, and the crew worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done in 2 days. It turned out beautifully!”

“Absolutely Stellar Experience with Home Roots Lawn and Landscape! TC and his team are great! I couldn’t be more thrilled with the work Home Roots Lawn and Landscape did for my home. From the initial design to the final touches, everything was handled with such professionalism and care. What truly blew me away was that the entire project—design and execution—was completed in just one day, flawlessly and without a single issue. The team made everything happen seamlessly, and the results speak for themselves. I get compliments constantly on my planters—people stop and ask who did the work! Home Roots brought my vision to life better than I could have imagined. If you're looking for quality, efficiency, and a team that truly knows what they're doing, look no further. Highly recommend!”

“It’s been such a great experience working with Home Roots Lawn & Landscape. They’re truly a communicative and problem-solving company — something that’s hard to find these days. From start to finish, they made everything easy and stress-free, always quick to respond and proactive in finding the best solutions. A special shout-out to Heather, who was absolutely wonderful to work with — friendly, professional, and always on top of every detail. You can tell the team genuinely cares about their clients and the quality of their work. Highly recommend Home Roots Lawn & Landscape to anyone looking for reliable, thoughtful, and solution-oriented service!”

“Home Roots installed a walkway for us and did an amazing job! They gave us a fully itemized quote, came in cheaper than others, were easy to work with and responsive, and did an excellent job. I would highly recommend them and will be hiring them again myself.”

“Home Roots was amazing from start to finish. They did a beautiful job with the Christmas lights on our home. Our house looks beautiful. They have found a forever customer in us. Thank you for the great job. We will be contacting you for other landscaping needs in the near future.”

“Home Roots did it again!! We are repeat customers and they went the extra mile to fit us into their busy schedule and everything was perfect, from communication, scheduling to completion. It was a small rose garden project, unlike what they normally do, but they gave us top notch attention. We could not be happier, highly recommend!!”

“My flowerbeds were in need of cleanup and Home Roots Lawncare did a great job weeding the beds, trimming/shaping hedges and mulching. I will certainly use them again. Great communication throughout the entire process”

“Beyond happy with our christmas lights!! Home Roots Lawn & Landscape did such an incredible job. The team was very professional and friendly. It finally feels like christmas now that we have our lights up. Highly recommend reaching out to them!”

“Totally ridiculous. Crew worked 1hour and 15 minutes and I was charged $991.00. The only other people that make approximately $1000.00 an hour are a few cardiologist and a few extremely skilled lawyers. Mt God, all these people do is dig in the dirt!”

“We moved into a home that had gorgeous flowerbeds and mulch trails in the backyard that soon became weed-infested dragons to slay every spring. This year we decided to have the Homeroots team clear things out and sod a portion. Our pups now have an amazing greenspace to run around in and we have a large bed to fill with native plants that don’t require as much water. Couldn’t be happier with the work and with the communication we received the whole way through the process. Love these folks and we’re already thinking about what to have them tackle next!”

“Wow. I am SO impressed by Home Roots. From start to finish we received the most professional, kind, and timely responses from Heather and the entire team. The crew was awesome, they were so quick and did a fantastic job. They were also just so fun, laughing and having a good time while they were doing the work. Plus they were kind to our puppy who was very excited to see someone in his yard haha! We’re already searching for more work to be done just so we can hire them again. You will NOT regret hiring this team!”

“Home Roots process is easy and the best! Communication was streamlined through the whole process. Came out while I was at work and Everything was done that we discussed and more! Any question I had was answered right away. Quality work! Fire pit looks great! Thank you guys!”

“Tc and the crew are great guys who do exceptional work. 5 stars all around. Great services from lawncare to landscaping.”

“We absolutely love the design TC came up with for us! Our flower beds look so much cleaner and much easier for us to maintain. Heather stayed in communication with me the entire process and gave me updates as soon as she had them. We cannot thank this team enough. We look forward to working with Home Roots Lawn & Landscape again!”

“TC and his team did an amazing job! We are so pleased with the results of our project. They communicated with us efficiently throughout the process and they even came in under budget. We would highly recommend Home Roots Lawn & Landscape!”

“Heather is the sweetest! Very friendly and efficient! Called to make an appointment for an estimate to get our trees trimmed. They were in rough shape. We were given an honest and fair price. Our trees were in rough shape. Now our front and back yard looks incredible! Way better than when we first bought our home! The Home Roots team are super professional, kind and very respectful. Highly recommend them to any and everyone that will listen! I can’t wait for us to have future projects so I can use them again!”

“We hired Home Roots to trim a beloved pecan tree on a commercial property downtown. It needed some love after a recent storm. They are so friendly and accommodating. The work they did was exactly as we asked. They had the best price (we called around) too! Heather in the office was great to work with. We will be calling them again. Highly recommend Home Roots!”

“Home Roots were so accommodating and helpful to us when we were going through management changes. They always took care of anything we needed in a timely and professional manner. They were the most careful landscapers we've ever used and were always honest and upfront with us if they ever made a small mistake--a rare occurrence. Any time they were rained out while trying to mow for us, they always made sure to come back and finish the job as soon as possible. Their entire staff is very personable and hard working, and the family that owns the business was nothing but kind to us when we were scrambling for a landscaping contract. Heather in their front office was such a blessing as a point of contact for the company and was always willing to do whatever she could to accommodate us and answer any questions we had. The landscaping team were constantly working hard and even noticed some areas where we could improve our park, bringing them to the attention of our front office staff. We wholeheartedly recommend Home Roots to anyone considering using their services!”

“Everything was flawless from the beginning to the finished product! The team built a beautiful vegetable garden in my backyard.”
