About

Jimbo's Nursery runs tree service work and landscaping out of Santa Fe, Texas. The outfit has operated since 1975 and lists full landscaping design and installation along with garden center sales of native Texas plants, cold hardy palms, and tropicals. Additional work covers interior plant service, supply sales, and workshops for both kids and adults. The Google listing also notes tree service as one of the categories handled at the location on West 8th Street.

Customers report coming in for plant purchases and hands on classes such as the daylily session led by Michael Mayfield and the desert rose talk. They leave with healthy stock that grows well at home, including cacti, bromeliads, succulents, and tomatoes. Reviewers note the staff helped match plants to local yards and gave care tips that stuck. One group received donated plants from Claire and her crew for a fundraising event, while others used the space for toad habitat builds and bingo nights that kept kids busy.

The place draws visitors from Sugar Land, Friendswood, and farther spots because the layout stays open with shade, carts, and clear signs. Staff answer questions without pressure and keep prices reasonable across the stock. Workshops run on set dates like the cider and stems event or winter veggie sessions, and the grounds stay clean enough for easy browsing even on a first trip. No specific hours appear in the listings, but the spot keeps regular access for both retail and event days.

Reviewers keep coming back for the same reasons: wide selection of hard to find natives, strong root systems on the plants, and staff who know the Gulf Coast conditions. The total count sits at more than twenty entries, nearly all five stars, with repeated notes on fair pricing and the overall experience of walking the grounds.

What Customers Say

“I had a wonderful time today attending the Daylily Class at Jimbo’s Nursery in Santa Fe! A special thank you to Master Gardener Michael Mayfield for sharing his knowledge and passion for daylilies, and to Jimbo’s Nursery for hosting such an informative and enjoyable event. I learned so much about growing, dividing, and caring for these beautiful flowers. To top it all off, I was lucky enough to win one of the three door prizes, a beautiful Burning Hot Lava Daylily! What a fun surprise and a perfect addition to my garden. Thank you to everyone who helped make the class such a great experience. Now I can't wait to get out in the yard and put some of these new tips to use! Have you ever grown daylilies, and if so, what is your favorite variety? I hope you have a blessed Saturday!”

“Jimbo’s Nursery in Santa Fe is a fantastic spot. I have visited many garden centers and this one truly stands out. The plant quality is top notch and the variety they keep in stock is impressive. Everything I bought here looks healthy and is growing well. It is clear that the people running the place put a lot of effort into maintaining their stock. You can find everything from small flowers to large trees and they all look great. The staff is the best part. They are friendly and actually know what they are talking about. They helped me pick out the right plants for my yard and gave me solid tips on how to care for them. The prices are fair and the overall vibe of the nursery is very welcoming. If you need anything for your garden or a big landscaping project you should definitely check them out. I will be heading back there soon.”

“If you've ever been here, you know exactly what I mean when I tell you that this place is MAGICAL! Not only are the staff knowledgeable and kind, but they're HAPPY to help you! The selection is incredible, and the big signs and open layout makes everything easy to find! There's plenty of shade, and easy ways to carry your plants on carts while you stroll through the nursery too. On top of all that, they also host workshops and themed events for kids and adults! I promise these will be the healthiest, most lived plants you've ever purchased. And the prices are great! I tell everyone I meet to go find this magical local gem! They've been here for 50 years, and I want them to stay!!!”

“I Purchased 4 tomato plants here and they been great! Giving me plenty of tomatoes. I did purchase 2 blackberry plants from here as well that died and did not show any signs of growth.. I did email asking if they have any type of plant warranty/ refund option but I never got a reply. I would definitely come back here again! They have many options of plants to choose from and it’s very clean and organized.”

Cris Jones

“By far the most beautiful nursery I’ve ever been to! There’s such a wide variety of plants to choose from, so worth the drive !”

“Jimbo’s Nursery is such a fun little hidden gem. The grounds are beautiful, the plant selection is great, and there’s something to look at everywhere you turn. I especially love that it feels more like wandering through a little plant paradise than simply shopping at a nursery. We came for Plant Bingo, which was a blast, but of course I couldn’t leave without finding another plant I “needed.” 😂 Definitely worth the drive. I’ll be back.”

“A gem in the heart of Brazoria County, south of Alvin TX. (towards Galveston). They have a great selection & excellent prices!! The staff were very professional, helpful & gracious. This was our first visit and it is a bit off “Main Street”. It well worth the drive from Friendswood. My wife and I will be returning.”
