The Urban Foresters

The Urban Foresters run tree service work from Stafford, Texas. They handle trimming, removal, stump grinding and fertilization jobs across the greater Houston area. Account managers such as Jerry Bonilla, Brent, Wes and Chris meet customers on site, while crews led by names like Kyle, Jose Luis, Nelson, Arle, Francisco and Erik carry out the actual cuts and cleanup.

Homeowners bring them in for trimming mature live oaks and water oaks that lean toward roofs or drop limbs. They remove dead trees hit by root rot, reshape overgrown crape myrtles, lift palms and tame thick shrubs like ligustrum that block light. One crew saved a split live oak through careful pruning rather than full removal, and another ground out a large stump so the yard looked level again. Reviewers note the crews finish with yards raked and debris hauled off the same day.

They answer calls the same day and send someone out fast for estimates. Pricing lands competitive after two or three quotes, and work gets scheduled without long waits. Crews show up on time or early, keep owners updated if plans shift, and stay until the site is clean. Service reaches Sugar Land and nearby spots in the Houston region, with jobs done in rain or on short notice when needed.

They hold a 4.9 rating from 108 reviews on Google. Reviewers keep mentioning clear explanations from account managers, crews that respect property lines and strong results that last. DIRT Score 4.7 from reviews on Finds.

“The Urban Foresters did excellent work. I highly recommend them. Very professional throughout the whole process. I got two quotes and their pricing was competitive. Great customer service.”

“We could not have had a better experience! Unfortunately, our large water oak was not able to be saved due to root rot. Kyle and the team at Urban Foresters, Jose Luis, Nelson, & Arle did an amazing job with trimming all of our live and water oaks and the removal of what was once known to our family and friends as 1st Base😢 Francisco was our stump grinder he made the area look great. Watch your trees if I would’ve called sooner, we would’ve been able to save first base! I highly recommend Urban Foresters”

“Did a great job on trees & shrubs. In my experience, these type of services are definitely a case of you get what you pay for. Worth it for a pro job that cleans up your yard in a day. Attached is before and after lygustrum shrub -- can't overstate how much work it takes to tame this shrub, for one person this is a multiple all day job, so glad to get it done -- thanks!”

“I highly recommend you hire this company and team I called The Urban Foresters in Sugar Land to trim and lift our trees and palms. Chris came to make us an estimate and listen to all my questions and concerns about the best way to give the trees a long life and a beautiful shape. He was wonderful to work with and very professional from the start, providing a reasonable price and scheduling quickly. Erik and his team came on the day and time agreed and did a terrific job that exceed my expectations. So, my trees and palms look so beautiful and ready for my Spring lunch table at the back garden. They earned my respect and I hired them again for my rental house’s trees.”

“Receiving an estimate and scheduling my tree trimming service with Jerry was quick and easy. He is very pleasant to work with. The results of the trimming job were exactly what I expected and more. And the crew did an excellent job of cleaning up.”

“Our family have been loyal customers of Urban Foresters since 2012 when one of our mature old Live Oaks split. Other companies just wanted to take it down but Urban Foresters reassured us with pruning and care the tree could be saved. It is as beautiful as ever 13 years later. Every 2 to 3 years we would have our trees serviced. This December I had a Live Oak leaning over the house I was concerned about and Jerri came to assess the tree. With the root encroachment and the lean it was decided the tree should be removed. The Urban Foresters crews were as great as usual. The tree came down on Monday, in the rain! The crew cleaned the site beautifully. On Tuesday the crew did a wonderful job of pruning, thinning and removing damage from Hurricane Beryl on my five remaining Live Oaks. Again they left the yard cleaned very well. On Wednesday Jose came and loaded the heavy limbs, what a work of art! He handled that heavy load like he was playing with match sticks. He then ground the stump, making sure to get all the many roots too. He the cleaned the site, loaded the debris and leveled it with rakes. The entire job was professionally completed. I am proud to tell you this entire company f”

“Everyone at Urban Foresters is very professional and caring. Jerry in sales was particularly helpful. He helped me throughout the process, from start to finish. It made a huge difference to me. The trees look great, and I no longer need to worry about their branches touching the roof.”

“I wish to compliment Jerry. He was a true professional. He assessed my tree needs, was thorough and very clear in his explanation. Additionally, he gave me a bit of background on the company and assured me that he would come on the day of service to make sure all was in order. The foreman and tree men were excellent. All was impeccable when they finished. I am very pleased.”

“My husband and I just had a great experience with Urban Foresters pruning our tree. Our main point of contact was Brent. Brent was a great communicator and answered all of our questions prior to the service, and kept us in the loop day of since we both had to be at work. We were blown away with how the team went above and beyond. The team showed up early, and did more than we were expecting, and did a great job with clean up of our yard and our neighbors since some of the tree was going into their yard. 5 stars all around! I would highly recommend this company and Brent for all of your tree servicing needs.”

“I had a great experience with Urban Foresters. Brent was excellent—he consistently kept me informed throughout the entire process. The service was prompt, and the crew arrived as scheduled, completing the work to my satisfaction. I would absolutely consider using Urban Foresters again in the future.”

“Jerry came out for a consultation over my four 25-year-old oaks in need of a trim. Gave great options after reviewing the trees. The actual trimming was even better. We were thrilled with the results, almost unrecognizable without looking like what I call "broccoli trees," where the trees are trimmed so much they lose all shade and beauty. Thank you, Urban Foresters!”

“Second time to use Urban Foresters and once again they did a great job! Priced right, and very professional folks to work with. Trees look great.”

“Brent and the whole crew with the Urban Foresters are an awesome team. They came out and were very professional. They worked with me to figure out the best plan of action for my three massive oak trees. The crew worked quickly and efficiently, and did a very good job. I highly recommend The Urban Foresters. This is a company that really cares about customers.”

“After calling 2 other businesses, Urban Foresters was the only one that answered/returned my call. I needed 3 live oak trees in my yard trimmed and Wes came out to assess my trees. He was very knowledgable with what needed to be done and he communicated with me in a timely manner. The crew that came out and did a nice job with my trees. They were quick and efficient and cleaned up the area after the work was done. I believe it was fairly priced and worth the job that was done since I had not had my trees trimmed for over 3 years. I look forward to having them trim my trees again in the future and I highly recommend this company to anyone that needs their services. Thank you Urban Foresters!”

“I was very pleased with the work done by the Urban Foresters team. Their arborist, Wes, performed a great on-site evaluation and provided thorough and reassuring explanations of what their team would do. The detailed estimate was competitive. Their work team crew did an awesome job. They paid attention to how they did the work and were respectful to my input as well. They did an awesome job of cleaning everything up. They were on time and performed the work in a very timely manner. Very professional, thorough, timely, courteous. I would hire them again. Thank you!”

“This company did a great job during a busy time of year. I wanted a crape myrtle reshaped, and they worked me into the schedule quickly. The equipment looked good, cleanup was thorough, the crew was easy to communicate with. Initial estimate helped me understand the job and get a sense of why one other tree in my yard was looking bad. I think the work will help all the plants in the long run. Highly recommend.”
