Aztec Fence & Ornamental Iron

Aztec Fence & Ornamental Iron operates out of San Antonio as a fifth generation family owned welding and fencing outfit that has handled local metal work since 1954. The crew focuses on custom fabrication and installation of fences plus ornamental iron across the greater San Antonio area where weather and soil conditions often demand sturdy welded solutions for residential and commercial properties. Homeowners call them for everything from basic chain link repairs to full wrought iron setups that stand up to Texas heat and occasional storms. Their background in welding gives them an edge on jobs that need precise cuts and joins rather than off the shelf parts.

The team fabricates and installs wrought iron fencing along with wood and chain link options plus custom gates and access systems. They also handle mason columns, carports, stair and handrails, metal beam guardrails, and electrostatic painting. Larry has led several projects including custom iron rails for a large covered back porch, a front porch, and two sets of stairs where he guided the homeowners through choices and kept the work moving. In another case Larry and his crew rebuilt an entire chain link fence with black vinyl coating in less than a day after arriving ahead of schedule which improved the property's curbside look without dragging out the disruption.

Customers often mention the speed of the crew and the solid quality of the finished fences and rails that hold up well over time along with fair pricing on straightforward jobs. Communication draws mixed feedback with some homeowners noting clear guidance from technicians like Larry while others report slow or missing responses to quote requests through the website. That pattern of uneven follow through pulls the overall rating down despite strong marks on the actual welding and installation work. DIRT Score 2.75 from 18 reviews on Finds.

“We are very happy with the iron rails we purchased and had custom fabricated from Aztec Fence and Ornamental Iron. We needed railing for a very large covered back porch, a front porch and two sets of stairs. Larry was knowledgeable, professional, responsive and just a wonderful person to guide us through this process from start to finish! The rails themselves are not only beautiful but they’re so well made. We highly recommend Larry and his team for your fencing or railing needs but for us specifically, the custom rail fabrication!”

“Family owned fencing since 1954 great place awesome work.”

“Larry and co re built our entire chain link fence in less than a day. He and his crew came out ahead of schedule and provided a quality black vinyl link fence that really improved our curbside appeal. He was knowledgeable and friends and his team was efficient and hard working.”

“If you have a "contact us" section on your website for people to submit quote requests, etc.... follow up. Don't waste my time if you aren't going to utilize the tool as offered on website.... meaning, if you need me to call for a quote - state so!.... The above post was five years ago. Your response 28 minutes ago shows that it was more than simply an email response went to spam folder... especially when call back numbers were left. You should just accept 5 years ago you had terrible customer service and move on... vs today giving a weak excuse. I am guessing service is about the same 5 years later.”

“Larry and his staff are very professional, punctual with competitive pricing. I highly recommend Aztec Fence & Ornamental Iron for all your residential or commercial fencing solutions!”
