About

Winston Garage Doors handles garage door repair and installation out of Irving, Texas. Their licensed and insured technicians cover broken spring replacement, opener repair, cable work, roller replacement, sensor fixes, and new door installs across all brands and models. They offer same day service plus 24/7 emergency response in Irving, Dallas, Plano, Frisco, Arlington, Fort Worth, and nearby spots in the DFW area.

Customers call them for spring breaks, twisted cables, faulty sensors that stop remotes from working, and doors that go out of balance. Jerry has shown up on older doors, sorted what was covered under warranty versus extra work, and finished the job in under two hours while leaving the area clean. Josh W. walked through maintenance steps after a repair. Austin explained options on site and pointed out what needed attention. Kyle handled spring replacement and gave tips to keep the door running right. Julian fixed a broken spring and untangled cables even when the warranty company would not cover it. Peter completed warranty work and offered advice on future service. Some jobs needed repeat visits after the first fix did not hold.

They schedule appointments with arrival windows but response times vary. Reviewers report techs arriving on time in some cases and running two hours late or canceling in others. Communication from the office draws complaints when customers wait hours without updates. Pricing comes up as higher than other quotes for the same work. Service stays limited to the DFW cities listed in their profile.

Reviews total more than a dozen with a mix of five star notes on individual techs and one to three star notes on scheduling and follow up. Common topics include strong on site repairs paired with weak office coordination and occasional repeat issues after the first visit.

What Customers Say

“I needed my garage door repaired. I put in the request on Friday and they came out Monday. I could not have asked for a better experience. Jerry was wonderful to work with. Very pleasant and knowledgeable. He told me what was covered and what wasn't. I knew there was lots that would need to be done since it's an older door. He got it all done and in great working order under 2 hours. Very clean and I'm so impressed. I will definitely use them again for any maintenance and when I'm ready to get a new garage door”

Karen Moe

“Came by for a warranty claim. Was told I was first on the list that morning. Service provider didn't show up for 2 hours so I left for work. Anyway, wife had to handle it while I was at work. Well, nothing was fixed, and he told the warranty company just enough to get them out of paying to get it fixed. Here's the condition this company left my garage opener in when I got home. The unit is in pieces, and the ladder was left out in the open. Absolutely unprofessional, dangerous, and a safety hazard (we have a toddler at home).”

John Mark Guerin

“AVOID THEM. No even a half day after the technician came to replace a broken spring and this happened, see pictures. They didn’t came the same day for repair. They give me an appointment in 10 days.”

Jose Medina

“I had a very positive experience with this garage door repair service. They were professional, knowledgeable, and able to identify and correct the issue with the garage door sensor/lock latch and remote function. The wall remote and car remote were working, but the problem appeared to be related to the side sensor, and they handled the repair properly. I appreciate that they took the time to check the system, explain the issue, and make sure the garage door was functioning again. Reliable service, professional communication, and helpful troubleshooting. I would recommend them for garage door repairs.”

Kate E

“Josh W. provided exceptional service. He communicated effectively through every step of the process. He gave me recommendations to help maintain our door in between yearly maintenance! He was patient and answered all of my questions. The process was quick and efficient! Highly recommend!”

Simia Richardson-Jordan

“Continuously so impressed by the service Winston Garage Doors provides. We’ve had to have them come out before and they are just super kind, super knowledgeable, super friendly, and super efficient. Everything was explained in a way that made sense, service was timely and smooth, and the techs were fun to chat with! Thank you for making this fix quick and easy and setting us up well for maintenance!”

Jayden McMurrin

““Austin was very helpful in explaining the problems my garage door may be having and showing me as he explained. It was a plus that Austin was had a great amount of knowledge. He offered different options of services that would be helpful to fix the issue and was very professional.””

Brandy Cross

“I had a great experience with my technician, Jerry. From the moment he arrived, he was professional, courteous, and clearly knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the issue in a way that was easy to understand. The work was completed efficiently, and my garage door is now running smoother and quieter than ever. It’s not always easy to find someone reliable and honest, but this technician exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend his services to anyone in need of garage repair.”

Amber Vicini

“I can’t explain how great of an experience it was working with Kyle and Winston garage doors. Kyle took great care making sure that my door was working and functioning properly and making sure that everything was safe. Kyle went above and beyond with his professionalism and customer service that I hope that in the future if I have any garage door issues, that Kyle and the Winston garage door team are able to come out and work on my garage. I don’t give many reviews but if I could give more than a 5 star review I would.”

Dominic Cuellar

“Kyle was my service tech today. He was courteous, knowledgeable, and has great customer service. Not only did he repair my garage door springs, he also gave helpful preventative maintenance tips. He answered all my questions in a professional manner. He was great to work with and I would recommend him and his company to anyone needing garage door help.”

Rikkie Williams

“Joshua is great. Friendly and efficient. He also educates you on maintenance and just things you should know. I really appreciate that. They are a little pricey so I opted out of the maintenance offer due to cost. UPDATE: I got additional quotes because I felt like this company may really be overcharging and they are. I showed the technician, that came out for a competitive bid, the work this company did for me in 2024 as well. He told me this company charged me 2-3 times more than what the average cost should be.”

Jacqueline Brown

“Do not use this company. Jesus came out and suppose to fix my door and next day broken again, An appointment was set up for Friday. Two hours after appointment time said he had truck trouble and would be here on Sunday afternoon. I have never heard from him or the company. I have called and left messages with no reply. Be careful as I feel they are scammers.”

Julie Bain

“I had a very disappointing experience with Winston Garage Doors and their technician, Jackson. Their solution to almost every problem seems to be selling a spring replacement, whether it's actually needed or not. Jackson replaced the springs on my garage door but failed to properly adjust and balance the door afterward. As a result, the door alignment became worse over time and created additional issues that did not exist before. When I contacted the company again to address the problem they caused, instead of fixing their work, they kept pointing out other parts that supposedly needed repairs and tried to sell more services. They never took responsibility for the poor adjustment after the spring replacement. Eventually, I hired a different garage door technician. Within a short time, he properly adjusted and aligned the door, fixed the real issue, and the door has been operating perfectly ever since. Based on my experience, Winston Garage Doors seemed more interested in upselling repairs than correctly diagnosing and fixing the actual problem. I would not recommend them.”

“They gave us an arrival window and our tech arrived almost two hours AFTER the window closed. We had to constantly call their office and dispatch to find out where the heck our tech was, only to get lied to about when he would arrive. We understand that schedules can often go awry BUT the lack of communication from the office is totally unprofessional. It shows total disrespect and disregard of their customers’ time. If they had only communicated properly to us, and apologized for the tardiness of their tech, we would have been mollified but they didn’t care enough to do that. As a result, we will NEVER recommend this company to anyone. NOTE: the tech himself was fine. When he finally got to our house, he performed his job quickly and efficiently.”

Jessica Craft

“Horrible service. My home warranty company assigned them to my claim and originally promised a next-day visit. Winston Doors canceled that and rescheduled for four days later. On the day of the new appointment, I waited around all day and tried contacting them repeatedly for an ETA, but received zero response. Then, at 7 PM, they completely canceled and pushed the appointment out another eight days. I highly discourage anyone from using this company. This is with Winston Doors LLC - Austin TX”

“Emergencies happen—I get it. No complaints there. But please communicate with your customers. I took time off work and waited through a five-hour appointment window only to find out, after I called, that the technician had an emergency. A simple text or phone call would have let me get back to work instead of waiting around all day. Afterward, I read through other customer reviews and noticed several people reported very similar situations. Maybe it’s just bad luck, but seeing the same explanation over and over doesn’t inspire much confidence. I can’t comment on the quality of their repair work yet, but based on my experience so far, customer service and communication definitely need improvement.”

“Julian did a marvelous job fixing my garage door. Turned out the spring broke and the cables were extremely twisted. Despite the poor support from my Choice home warranty (not covering the job), Julian took great care of me. Highly recommend Winston Garage doors for any future garage door issues.”

Jesse Acevedo

“The technician Peter was outstanding. He was very efficient, prompt, professional and personable. Provided excellent service and gave good recommendations on future service and/or repairs. We were very pleased with the warranty work.”

Jan Gregg

“The absolute worst. Been trying to get my garage fixed for 6 weeks. I paid them, they fixed it and it has broken again. Infact they did such a bad job with the repair the door is now even worse. I am sick of trying to get them to fix what I have paid for. They put me on the schedule then cancel. This is the worst company to deal with stay away from them. I am going to take them to court to get my money back since they keep canceling the appt. Warranty my dot dot dot. They will never come back out to fix there mistakes. UPDATE - 6/20/24. Garage is even worse since they “Fixed it”. Clearly the tech didn’t know how to install the parts correctly. The cables were installed wrong and the track never was aligned correctly. They charged 1400 bucks for this repair and now no one will come back out to fix the mistake they have made. No one answers the phone. This company should not be in business least not in Texas. They just take your money then never follow up and the quality of their work is garbage.”

“This review is for the Oregon Division of the company as I want to be fair. I see that this company services many states but particularly for Portland OR the tech was terrible. What a joke. I was looking at the reviews and I figured I'm dealing with the company who knows what they're doing about garage doors. turns out they're just here to collect the 75$ call fee and completely confused you. We had a tech come out under our warranty and their truck was super dirty and unorganized. But I turned the blind eye today in hopes that they would stand behind their work. Inspected my door and told me that the part inside the opener is actually bad, great! He said he doesn't have it with him and he would need to come out the next day to fix it. Ok. The next day, I get a call from my warranty saying that they're not covering the broken parts. I was very confused on what parts they're talking about. The tech literally just said that one piece was broken in the opener. Turns out the tech from Winston garage doors decided that just about everything with my door is broken. He said my hinges were bad. The rollers were bad. The garage door needs complete replacement and the door is old. Keep in min”
