The problem
You've been working with Henderson for three years. He seems like a good client — he's always got another job. But when you actually add it up, he negotiates every invoice, pays slow, and the jobs always run long. The guy you work with twice a year pays on time and never argues.
You can't see the difference in your gut. You can see it in the numbers.
Why we built it
Client quality should be data-driven, not gut-feel. Best/Worst clients ranks your client list by the metrics that matter — EHR per client, average days-to-pay, total revenue, total profit.
How it works
- 1
Open Stats and tap "Clients."
- 2
See clients ranked by profit generated, EHR, and payment speed.
- 3
Highest-value clients get the repeat discount. Lowest-value ones get stricter terms or get cut.
What changes for your business
Before
All clients feel equal because there's no data to rank them.
After
Best and worst clients quantified. Make business decisions with the real numbers.
Common questions
How do I find out which clients make me the most money?
In DIRT Stats, tap the Clients view. Clients are ranked by EHR generated across all jobs, by total profit, and by average days-to-pay. The top of the list shows your best clients — high profit, fast payment. The bottom shows the ones consuming your time without commensurate return.
How do I know which clients to stop working with?
Look at the data: low EHR per job, slow payment, and high time cost. DIRT's best/worst client ranking surfaces these patterns. A client who always seems to have "just one more thing," pays late, and generates $30/hr is a candidate to price out — raise your rate for them specifically until they either pay more or find someone else.
Is it okay to fire a client as a contractor?
Yes. Declining or pricing out a client who does not work economically for you is a normal business decision. The data makes it clearer — if a client's lifetime EHR through DIRT is $28/hr and your target is $75/hr, the math supports the decision.
How do I give better clients better treatment?
In DIRT, your best clients get a few concrete things: a repeat-client discount set on their profile, payment terms that match their behavior, and priority quoting. The ranking view helps you identify who deserves that treatment based on actual numbers, not gut feel.
What data does DIRT use to rank clients?
EHR per client (average across all jobs worked for them), total net profit generated, and average days-to-pay. Each metric is calculated from the job and invoice records in DIRT — not estimates or gut feel.
Can I see a client's profitability history over time?
Open the client card and look at their job history. Each job shows its EHR and net profit. Over time you can see whether the client's jobs are consistently profitable, improving, or declining. That history is the basis for the ranked view in Stats.
