The problem
You sent a bid three weeks ago and never heard back. You're not sure if they got it, if they went with someone else, or if they're just slow. Meanwhile you're turning down a smaller job because you think this big one might close.
Bids that disappear into the void cost you in two ways: the job you lose, and the job you didn't take while you waited.
Why we built it
Every bid you create in DIRT moves through a defined pipeline. You always know the status — and when something's been sitting in "Sent" for too long, DIRT nudges you to follow up.
How it works
- 1
Create a bid from a client record or from the Bids screen. Status starts at Draft.
- 2
Send it — status moves to Sent. Follow-up reminder fires if no response after your set window.
- 3
Mark Accepted or Lost when the answer comes in. Accepted bids convert to jobs in one tap.
What changes for your business
Before
Sent bids disappear into email. Follow up by memory. Some never close — or never get followed up at all.
After
Every bid has a status. Stale ones surface. Nothing gets forgotten.
Common questions
What is a bid pipeline for contractors?
A bid pipeline is a view of all your open proposals sorted by status — draft, sent, accepted, or lost. It tells you what's closable, what needs follow-up, and what you've already won or lost. Without one, bids disappear into email and follow-up happens by memory.
What is the best way to track contractor bids after you've sent them?
Keep every bid in one place with a status attached. DIRT's bid pipeline does this automatically — when you send a bid it moves to Sent, when the client responds you mark it Accepted or Lost. You always know where each proposal stands without digging through old emails.
How do I follow up on bids I've sent without forgetting?
In DIRT, any bid sitting in Sent status past your follow-up window surfaces a reminder. You don't have to remember which bids are stale — the pipeline shows you. Tap the bid card to send a follow-up directly from the pipeline.
What happens to a bid when the client accepts it in DIRT?
Mark it Accepted in the bid pipeline and convert it to a job in one tap. The line items from the bid carry over to the new job automatically. You don't re-enter the scope — the accepted bid becomes the job record.
How do I see all my open bids at once?
From the Bids screen, your full pipeline is visible with status tags: Draft, Sent, Accepted, and Lost. Filter by status to see only the proposals waiting for a response. That view tells you exactly what's closable right now and what's gone quiet.
Does DIRT track which bids I've won vs. lost?
Yes. When you mark a bid Lost, DIRT records it. Over time you can see your close rate — how many bids went out and how many converted to jobs. That number is useful for understanding whether your pricing is landing or whether you're consistently losing to someone cheaper.
Can I see all bids for a specific client?
Yes. Open the client card and the client 360 view shows all bids tied to that person — draft, sent, accepted, and lost. Full proposal history in one place, so you can see what you've quoted them before and what the outcome was.
