The problem
Your total outstanding AR is $8,400. But who's holding it? Is it split across five clients or is one person sitting on most of it? Knowing the total is useful — knowing the breakdown is what lets you actually do something about it.
Why we built it
Client-level AR lets you prioritize follow-ups. One client with a large balance gets a call. Five clients with small balances get a different approach. You can't make that call without the breakdown.
How it works
- 1
From a client card, the AR balance is shown at the top — total outstanding vs. total paid, all time.
- 2
Drill into individual invoices to see which ones are open, partial, or overdue.
- 3
Use it to prioritize follow-ups. Biggest balance first.
What changes for your business
Before
AR total across all clients. Can't tell who holds the most.
After
Balance per client. Follow up the right ones first.
Common questions
How do I see how much each client owes me?
In DIRT, open a client card and the AR balance is shown at the top — total outstanding versus total paid, all time. Tap any outstanding invoice to see the detail or send a reminder. You do not have to scan your whole invoice list to find what one client owes.
What is the difference between total AR and client-level AR?
Total AR is everything owed to you across all clients — the big number in your AR dashboard. Client-level AR is what one specific client owes. If your total AR is $12,000, client-level breakdown tells you whether that is spread across eight clients or sitting with two. It determines where you focus your follow-up.
How do I prioritize which clients to follow up with on payments?
Sort by balance — the clients holding the most of your money get the first call. DIRT's client AR view shows each client's outstanding balance so you can prioritize follow-up by dollar amount, not by which name you happen to remember.
Can I see if a client has any overdue invoices?
Yes. Open the client card in DIRT and drill into their invoices. Overdue invoices are flagged with the days past due. You can send a reminder from the same view.
How do I know if a repeat client's balance is getting too large?
DIRT shows the running outstanding balance on every client card. If you have a client who always has one unpaid invoice and you keep taking on new work for them, the balance grows. Seeing that number before you quote the next job is how you decide whether to require payment on the current balance first.
Is client AR the same as accounts receivable?
Yes. Client AR is your accounts receivable broken down by client rather than shown as a single total. It answers "who owes me what" rather than just "how much do I have coming in." Both views are in DIRT — total AR on the invoice dashboard, client-level AR on each client card.
