Work · Get Organized

Every job tied to a person. Your rolodex is part of the work.

Contractor client management works when every job, bid, invoice, and note links to one client record instead of living across phone contacts, text threads, and memory. Add a client in DIRT, or import from your phone contacts, and anything you create for them attaches automatically — so the client card shows active jobs, outstanding invoices, job history, and notes in one place. That is the difference between digging for context when someone calls and having it before you answer.

The problem

Henderson is in your phone. Martinez is in an old text thread. Johnson is on a sticky note in your truck. When a client calls about an old job, you're digging through three different places just to find the context for the conversation.

Why we built it

Every piece of work in DIRT connects to a client. Jobs, bids, invoices, notes — they all live under the same person. When someone calls, their whole history is one tap away.

How it works

  1. 1

Add a client from the Clients screen — or import from your phone contacts.

  2. 2

Any job, bid, or invoice you create links to that client automatically.

  3. 3

Open the client card to see everything: active jobs, outstanding invoices, job history, notes.

What changes for your business

Before

Client contacts scattered across phone, text, and memory.

After

One client card. Everything tied to it — jobs, invoices, notes, history.

Common questions

What is the best way for contractors to manage their clients?

Keep every client in one system where all their jobs, bids, invoices, and notes are linked. If your client list lives in phone contacts and the job history is scattered, you're starting from scratch every time someone calls. DIRT's client book ties everything to one person so the full picture is one tap away.

How do I keep track of all my clients and their past work?

Add each client to DIRT as a client record. Every job, bid, and invoice you create for them links automatically. When you open their card, you see the full history — active work, outstanding invoices, completed jobs, and any notes you've logged about that client.

What information should I store in a client record?

Name, phone, email, and address at minimum. Add notes for access details like gate codes, pet warnings, or communication preferences. The client card also shows payment history and average days-to-pay once you've worked with them a few times.

Can I import contacts from my phone into DIRT?

Yes. In settings, tap "Import contacts" and give DIRT access to your phone contacts. Select which ones to bring in. They land as client records in the app — you don't retype every name and number manually.

Does the client book work differently from a contractor CRM?

A CRM is built for tracking leads through a sales pipeline. The client book tracks current and past clients — people you've already worked with or are actively working with. DIRT has both: the client book for your working client list and a CRM pipeline for managing new leads.

Do all my jobs have to be linked to a client in DIRT?

Jobs in DIRT connect to client records. That connection is what makes the full history work — all jobs for one person in one place. It also means when you invoice, the client info is already there without re-entering it every time.
