Your phone contacts come in. Don't retype a single number.

Your phone contacts can be imported rather than retyped: Settings, then Import contacts, grant access, and pick which ones to bring in. Each one lands in DIRT as a client record you can hang jobs, bids, and invoices on. It is contacts only — no job history comes across — and you can run the import again later when you add new clients to your phone.

The problem

You have 200 contacts in your phone. 40 of them are clients or leads you've worked with. Getting them into DIRT means either typing them in one by one or not doing it and just adding people as you go. Either way, the first week feels like more setup than it should.

Why we built it

Your phone is already the source of truth for your contacts. DIRT imports them so you can start using the app with real client data instead of starting from scratch.

How it works

  1. 1

In Settings, tap "Import contacts" and grant access to your phone contacts.

  2. 2

Select which contacts to import — all of them or specific ones.

  3. 3

They land as client records in DIRT. Add job history or notes from there.

What changes for your business

Before

Type every client name and number manually into the app.

After

Import from phone. Clients are in DIRT in two minutes.

Common questions

Can I import my phone contacts into DIRT instead of entering clients manually?

Yes. Settings → Import contacts → grant access → select which contacts to bring in. They land as client records in DIRT.

Can I choose which contacts to import, or does it pull everyone?

You choose. Select specific contacts or import all of them. You don't have to bring in every number in your phone — just the clients and leads.

What does each imported contact become in DIRT?

A client record. From there you can create jobs, bids, and invoices tied to that client, and add notes or job history.

Do imported contacts automatically have job history attached?

No. They come in as contact records only. You add jobs, invoices, and notes as you work with each client. Import is a starting point — not a data migration.

What if a contact in my phone only has a name and no email?

It imports as-is. Incomplete records are fine to start — add an email or phone number when you have it. Better to get the record in now than to wait until everything is perfect.

Can I import again later when I add new clients to my phone?

Yes. Run the import again from Settings. Review the list before confirming so you can spot and skip any contacts already in DIRT.
