Common questions
How do I see which active jobs are making me money right now?
In DIRT, sort your active job list by EHR. Jobs with the highest effective hourly rate appear at the top; the ones burning margin show at the bottom in red. You can see which active jobs need attention — pricing conversation, scope review, or just a push to finish — before they close out as losers.
What does sorting jobs by EHR tell me?
It tells you which jobs are running healthy and which are running hot. If a job sits near the bottom with a low EHR midway through, something went wrong — extra hours, materials overage, scope creep. Catching it mid-job while you can still adjust is better than finding out when you invoice.
Can I sort jobs by profitability in DIRT?
Yes. The Jobs list in DIRT can be sorted by EHR or by net profit. Active jobs show the current calculated rate based on what you've logged so far. Completed jobs show the final number. Both give you a ranking without running a separate report.
What should I do when I see a job with a low EHR midway through?
First, look at what drove the low rate — hours, materials, or mileage. If hours ran over because of scope added by the client, have the change order conversation. If materials spiked, check what you can recover on the invoice. If soft costs are the problem, see if there is a way to reduce site visits on the remaining work.
How is EHR calculated for an in-progress job?
DIRT calculates EHR in real time from what you have logged so far: revenue logged or bid amount, minus all costs entered to date, divided by hours entered. It is a running number — it updates every time you add a cost or log hours.
Is there a way to set an EHR alert on a job?
DIRT's Worth It score turns red when a job's EHR falls below your target rate — visible in the job list and on the job detail. The proactive insights card on the home screen also surfaces jobs that are underperforming before you think to check them.
