Stripe is great for collecting card payments. But not every job needs it. DIRT lets you mark any invoice paid by any method you actually use — and keeps the payment history straight regardless.

Common questions
How do I record a Venmo or Zelle payment in my contractor invoicing app?
In DIRT, open the invoice, tap "Mark paid," and select the payment method: Venmo, Zelle, check, cash, or other. Enter the amount and the date. The invoice closes, the ledger updates, and the payment is in the client's record. You do not need Stripe for cash-equivalent payments.
Can I accept check payments as a contractor and still track them in an app?
Yes. When a check comes in, open the invoice in DIRT and mark it paid by check with the date received. DIRT logs the payment in the invoice history. Your AR dashboard updates to reflect the closed invoice. The record is permanent and searchable.
Do I need to use Stripe to manage invoices in DIRT?
No. Stripe is optional. Many contractors use DIRT's invoicing with Venmo, Zelle, cash, and check — marking each invoice paid manually when payment arrives. Stripe adds the pay-by-card link for clients who prefer card, but the invoicing and payment tracking work without it.
How do I keep track of which invoices have been paid by cash?
When cash comes in, tap "Mark paid" on the invoice in DIRT and select "Cash" as the method. The invoice moves to Paid status, the payment logs with a date, and your AR dashboard reflects the close. Everything is in the record — no separate spreadsheet needed.
What payment methods can I record in DIRT?
Venmo, Zelle, check, cash, and a general "other" option for anything else. If Stripe is connected, card and ACH payments through invoice links close automatically. All methods log with the date and amount in the invoice's payment history.
Can I use DIRT just for invoicing without accepting online payments?
Yes. Build invoices, send them by email or text, and mark them paid manually when the money arrives by whatever method your client uses. DIRT tracks the full lifecycle — draft, sent, partial, paid — without any payment processing.
