Change a line item from the cab. No keyboard needed.

You can correct a record by saying what changed — "change hours to five," "update materials to ninety-two dollars" — instead of navigating to the field and retyping it. DIRT identifies the field from context, makes the change, and recalculates everything downstream: invoice totals, profit, and effective hourly rate. The change is shown to you for approval before it commits.

The problem

You quoted 3 hours and it turned into 5. You billed the wrong part number. You spelled the client's name wrong and now the invoice PDF looks sloppy. These corrections are small — but each one means picking up the phone, finding the record, tapping the right field, and typing.

Over a week that's a lot of small friction for fixes that should take five seconds.

Why we built it

You should be able to fix anything in DIRT the same way you fix it in conversation — just say what changed. The system handles updating the record.

How it works

  1. 1

Open the record you need to change, or just tap the mic from home.

  2. 2

Say the correction. "Change hours to five." "Update materials to ninety-two dollars." "Fix the last name to Martinez."

  3. 3

DIRT updates the field and recalculates anything downstream. Confirm the change.

What changes for your business

Before

Navigate to the record, find the field, tap edit, retype the value.

After

Common questions

Can I change a line item or field in DIRT without navigating to it and retyping?

Yes. Open the record (or tap mic from home), say the correction, and DIRT updates the field. It also recalculates anything downstream — totals, profit, EHR — automatically.

What do I say to update a specific field by voice?

"Change hours to five." "Update materials to ninety-two dollars." "Fix the last name to Martinez." DIRT identifies the field from context and makes the change.

Does editing by voice recalculate the profit and invoice totals?

Yes. Update a labor or materials line item by voice and DIRT recalculates totals, effective hourly rate, and profit automatically. You don't have to touch the math.

Can I edit any type of record by voice — invoices, client names, bids?

Any record. Jobs, line items, invoice amounts, client contact info — all editable by voice. Navigate to the record first, or say the correction from home with the record name included.

What if I say the edit wrong and DIRT makes the wrong change?

DIRT confirms the change before saving it. Review the update on screen. If it's wrong, reject it and try again. Nothing commits without your approval.

When does voice edit actually save time vs. just tapping the field?

When your hands are dirty, you're in the cab, or you're making multiple corrections in a row. For a single field on a clean desk, tapping is fine. For corrections on the road, voice is faster and less error-prone.
